I already talked about why there's a problem. Traditional sexual ethics are in many ways the product of ancient cultures: the need to have clear identification of parents, the fact of young marriages, the lack of decent birth control. But I don't think we should just say "do whatever you want." As I noted, churches haven't even started to talk about this. So I don't have any specific proposals. I think, however, the the current situation is close to giving no guidance at all. When you reiterate teachings that both you and the people you're talking to know people don't follow, you're basically giving up. In effect you're leaving them to do whatever they want. I have problems with a lot of the results, particularly the number of children growing up in situations where they aren't going to be raised properly. But if "just say no" was going to work, it would have done so already.
