I think it's just wishful thinking ;)

The gift of prophecy is to build up the church and God's people. It's a gift to reach out to others, so they don't sin.
Youre wrong. Ive had visions from freinds for me (not often) but they had a purpose in my personal life that had nothing to do with turning away from sin. They were visions for direction and healing.

We have no certainty whether God is giving you visions or the accuracy of your understanding. All we have is The Word of God as written and shared. In 2 Corinthians 5:7, "For we walk by faith and not sight"; as Christians our faith is in the Lord by what's been revealed in knowledge and understanding. It's through the Bible and the Church we learn God's spirit and truth (i.e. The Holy Spirit). So just be cautious starting with what you certainly know about God. Especially seeking the Lord's understanding in fellowship. Then from there test the unknown patiently letting it's fruitfulness speak for itself. I hope the Lord leads you in discernment and your prayers are answered in his blessing!

Hello, ”well hey.”

It was a dream, not a vision or a revelation. And dreams are fueled by thoughts we have had in recent days...or sometimes, not so recent.

Either way, your brain already was programming this dream, even if the specifics are rearranged. There is a message here, but it is about you yearning, not about the solution.

It was a vision.

This is nonsense.
Scripture is filled with examples of God using the gifts of the spirit outside of church circumstances, and for personal advantage.
The gifts including prophecy are given that God might bless and direct our paths in all areas of life, including marriage, work, holidays, hobbies, recreation, etc.
Don't limit God to your box.

I met my wife as a direct result of hearing God speak to me. It was confirmed by a prophetic word, it was confirmed by vision etc.

I heard God whisper in my ear while I was driving. It saved my life from a crash that was about to happen just ahead of me.

I've had visions and heard God speak many times regarding my business activity.
I have been given directions in visions or dreams to fix serious engineering problems.

None of this was about church or sin.

Not true.
Yes, we all get random dreams filled with nonsense about the day, but as we see in scripture, there is a whole other realm of God speaking through dreams and visions.
I have had countless dreams and visions from the Lord, some instantly recognisable in meaning, others requiring interpretation, just like many of Jesus's parables do.
The Holy Spirit gives discernment if anyone asks.

Ive been waiting for many years to get a bf/husband and its been rough! Anyways this morning when i was resting, I saw a stop sign at my apartments in a vision that had the name of the guy i am talking to/like and the stop sign was GREEN. I didnt understand it at first and thought maybe i needed to 'slow down' since it was a stop sign and it was green....but then the revelation came to me later. The green color is 'go' for my direction to [insert guys name] for a relationship and the shape of the sign; a stop sign means my trial of lonliness is coming to an END. Any ways I dont get ever get visions so this is new to me. Hopfully i am acurate with all that is happening right now but I dont want to second guess or doubt what God has been doing. Ive been struggling with doubt for a while, but the vision was true and the revelation seems right, prayers for guidance would be apreciated. Thankyou!
Stick with it.
Come what may, God is good all the time.

I was led to my wife by visions and words of knowledge. I did not know that she was being led to me also by words from the Lord.

I believe God speaks to us in many ways...some through visions, some hear directly, and others through scripture pertaining to a specific area in their life.
He even speaks through Angels...those sent to deliver a message. (I had that happen several years ago). The most important thing to understand is to rightly discern that it is from Him and not a deceiving spirit .
God Bless!

I cant make this stuff up!!! Its too creative for my simple mind. You are doubting. I saw this when my eyes were closed. Name, shape and color. I couldnt possiply come up with something like this myself

of course you couldn't. But when God sends visions, they aren't contradictory. When satan sends a sign, they are always what we want to see and they are contradictory.

When my first marriage ended up in divorce court I repented and asked God to forgive me. (He had a lot of mistresses)...and God spoke to me and said I would marry again but it would take 10 years for our paths to cross. 10 years to the month of my divorce I met my soul mate exactly where He said I would. In those 10 years He directed my footsteps every step of the way until I finally arrived at the place we would cross paths.
10 years is a long time to wait.....maybe not for everyone but for me it was. I was raising my daughter from my 1st marriage all by myself.
Trust God.. in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:6). If this is a sign then you should have complete peace about it. If there is confusion, doubt or uncertainty then it would be wise to ask Him for confirmation.
God Bless!

I just wonder why you thought you had to repent and ask forgiveness from God when it was your spouse who committed adultery and broke up your marriage. An innocent person doesn't have to repent of anything. God is not silly, nor was He unaware of your true circumstances. I suggest to you that the pressure on you to repent and seek forgiveness from God, who did not see you as being guilty of anything, came from legalistic religious influences and maintain that even the innocent party in a divorce comes under the same judgment as the guilty party.

I wonder, when you asked God to forgive you, there might have been the still small voice of the Holy Spirit saying to you, "Why?" The religious voices might have drowned His voice out.

Oscar, I believe you miss the point Heart2Soul is making.
When my wife had an affair, I forgave her, nevertheless, a year or two later she still left me.
I was devastated, and for a full year I was in spiritual warfare for my marriage.
I forgave her, and I also asked God for forgiveness for my own errors in the marriage.

Heart2Soul may not have committed the adultery like her husband did, but only a fool would picture themselves completely innocent before God.
In order to open the door for God's healing and cleansing, we need to make sure our hands are clean, and that only comes from honestly taking hold of God's forgiveness.

I can understand that, because we need continual forgiveness because of our faults and shortcomings, and as our hearts are right with God, even though we have many imperfections, God is more than happy to forgive us every time we transgress the law in any way.

But you have to remember that you are not Jesus and she was not the virgin Mary, so you would not have had a perfect marriage and that you both made the normal errors that we all make in marriage. But when a spouse commits adultery which is usually a premeditated sin and deliberate disobedience to the Word of God and the inner pleading of the Holy Spirit not to do it, then that is an entirely different thing - something that is not any result of your errors in the marriage.

I use to pray for God to slam the door shut if something was not his will and plan for me and my life. So we do not have to trust in ourselves, we can trust in God to direct our lives.

They should repent for getting married to someone that was not willing to do everything in their power to make that marriage work. Getting married to someone that is not fully committed to marriage is a disaster waiting to happen.

If a person marries in good faith and not being a mind-reader to know how committed their partner is to the marriage, then there is nothing to repent from. If the partner was not fully committed to the marriage and did not disclose it, thereby making the other marriage partner to believe that the partner was fully committed to the marriage, then that partner has knowingly lied and it is that person who should be doing the repenting. And if the marriage vow was made before God, then the deceitful person is actually lying to God Himself.

I was really young back then....and I didn't know the Bible like I do now....plus my church was very against divorce. So I was under alot of condemnation over it.
