I really feel the need to talk about this. I was watching a popular Tv show at the moment, "Supernatural". Many of you know it, I'm sure. You may not be watching it, but you sure heard about it. Basically, a show about two brothers who hunt down all kind of spooky things like vampires, ghosts, pagan gods called demons now and so on.
I must say I watched it just for fun. But when it got to the 4th season, it suddenly stopped to be fun at all. Why? Because they made such a cruel depiction on God and His angels that it made my stomach sick. I stopped watching the show. But what really got to me was the fact that it wasn't the only show with this problem. It seems to have become a fashion nowadays to strike Christianity with everything in every freakin' TV show and what's really scary is that millions of clueless folks who don't read the Bible or go to a church really believe that.
When I posted my problem with the show on the IMDB boards, I was attacked from any possible angle. What's worse, even by a few "so called" Christians (that, I don't buy), who mocked me in every possible way.
So what do you think? I'm a God loving moron" as they called me? Is there an end to this horrible attack on the Christian faith on TV shows? (their excuse was that the Christian Faith is the best known in the western world and that's why it's the favorite when it comes to attacks. My belief is that they don't dare to attack Islam for example because they know the followers will start violent riots like when the danish caricatures of Mohammed were published) .

I'm a HUGE Supernatural fan and I love it. But I know where you're coming from. It's a cruel depiction of God, but it hasn't bothered me because I know the truth. But I completely understand why you wouldn't want to watch it, and you shouldn't be attacked for your opinion either.

I don't know why it hasn't bugged me enough to NOT watch it. Perhaps you're a better Christian than me. :p haha

I'm not a fanatic, I don't want you to think that. If we could meet in person and talk, you'd see I'm far from that. It's just that it started to bother me at one moment (as I was saying, it's not the only TV show or movie with this attitude). There are millions who don't know the truth, even if they're born christians and more than that, they buy it and they laugh at it. It's really painful. I loved that show. Now, with a 5th season coming, the "fun" promises to be even bigger. With sadness in my heart, I really can't watch it anymore. It's just too much for me now. This is how I feel.

I'm a big fan of "Supernatural" as well and I'm also a Christian. The problem I have a lot is that when I try to share my interest in the show with my friends who go to church (particularly this one friend I have who is the type of person to think that Harry Potter is satanic. BTW, she also thinks "Supernatural" is satanic.) Me and this friend get into debates all the time because I feel like she's judging my faith based on the fact that I have "questionable interests". I'm autistic! I'm going to have interests that you find questionable. I think I'm allowed to like "Supernatural" and still be a Christian without somebody judging me for it. This friend and her sister are really fundamental in their beliefs meaning that they (or at least the one I get into debates with) believe that everything with a worldly influence is satanic.

I was raised differently (and with an open mind) I also grew up going to more open minded churches (the church I go to now is a church of christ and some of the people there do have an open mind but some like the friend I get into debates with do not. The problem as to why I can't just leave this church is because I have some other friends who are more understanding of me but on the flip side, these same friends are friends with the friend I get into debates with! )

Is there an end to this horrible attack on the Christian faith on TV shows?

I'm fairly certain that the next year will be exponentially worse than any previous year. (for everyone who is not hidden under JESUS WINGS as HE Said over Jerusalem when He lamented with sorrow that they were not helped nor protected nor nurtured because they were not willing)

Unfortunately, Christians get attacked for their beliefs.
And nothing is wrong with your views.
God convicts everyone differently which is why the Bible calls the good you fail to do sin.
My mom was uncomfortable with anything "magic" related when I was a kid so I wasn't allowed to watch Harry Potter, Hocus Pocus, even the Smurfs.
Her conviction isn't mine, however, and I very much enjoy Harry Potter.
I do have issues with certain episodes of Family Guy, particularly the episode where Meg and Chris knock Stewie down the stairs and try to hide from their parents the fact that Stewie was in a coma from the accident.
If this portrayal of God is upsetting your conscious, you're in the right.
