Secret Service working without pay

This whole think just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Trump took the blame for the shutdown during a televised meeting with the Democrats. They were his cameras even.

Now I see that the very people that are expected to take a bullet to protect him are part of the workers who not only aren't receiving paychecks but are expected to work for free. Where is the sanity in that? What is there to keep Trump from waking up in the morning and there isn't anyone in the guard shack?

I don't like the man, but I also don't want anything illegal to happen to him either.

I am guessing the sort of person who would go into the secret service is probably willing to take a bullet for reasons that go beyond just the pay. There are probably more lucrative security contracts in other realms.

And I'm guessing that even the most dedicated person working in that job could be just a little bit less alert when he or she is also worrying about how to keep their family afloat.

It doesn't take any more than a nanosecond sometimes to be too late to take the bullet.

Depends on who or what it was for.

Have you got reports then that they stopped working? If not, then they will apparently work this long without pay. But it is not free, they get paid after the shut down ends.

I had a family member who was a federal agent and worked through shut-downs. No one likes it, but they get that it is part of the job.

Let’s assume Secret Service hangs for now.
How many weeks before sick outs (happening with TSA) and them slowdowns, walkouts, marching in the streets? The GOP Congress members gotta answer to their constituents. Unpaid people don’t stay happy long.

Utter rubbish. What a spin artist. Every govt. worker will be compensated in due time. No one is working for free, even Pres. Trump will be getting his $1. Why are people so short sighted or so blinded by the Left?

People I'm sure would work for free, if the cause is good. What better cause can there be than to protect a man as wonderful as this, and to deliver an angry 70-year-old man burgers from McDonald's?

Getting paid (some undetermined) Tuesday for a hamburger today doesn't change the fact that Wimpy is eating for free today.

Are you one of those who takes him at his word? He is the sort that says something to make a point, not to make a claim. It is all part of his negotiating tactic. But even so, the Dems are to blame most obviously. 5 billion means nothing to them. They simply hate Trump and want to bring him down by whatever means available to them.
