Why do you think people reject Christianity? (suggestions)

Jesus commands us to...

"19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20a

Yes - go tell people about Jesus - and if God moves them, they will follow Jesus. But if God does not move them, then leave them be, because you cannot move them, and they cannot move themselves either. People cannot make themselves believe what they do not believe. Nor can they disbelieve what they believe to be true.

That's secondary, actually an excuse not a reason.

I myself dislike the part of Christianity that defines Christianity in a way to exclude my denomination. Nobody gave them the authority to do that, and by doing it, they cause me to reject them. If they can get something that big wrong, then every other thing they have to say is worthless and useless and I am uninterested in any further communications with them.

Well, in all honesty, I grew up in your denomination, and they are pretty open about teaching those outside their denomination aren't saved (CCC 846). But why would that bother me? When our eyes stay focused on the Lord, the storm becomes irrelevant (just ask Peter). None of us will stand before the Pope or some evangelical preacher on judgment day.

I'm sure glad God didn't give up on me after the first person He sent. ;)

I never believed anybody, because everybody was ignorant or hypocritical. I only believed God directly. So I know that it's true that God decides whether you can believe or not.

Define "saved". Since Vatican 2 the Church has taught that virtuous non-Christians have the hope of heaven.

Yes, the CCC teaches a loophole, "those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church." (CCC 847). And by "his Church" they mean the Catholic church. How very nice of them. Although, I'm taken to understand that the Pope recently stated that even atheists could be saved, so I guess all that John 14:6 stuff went right out the window.

The point is this: those who God calls to follow Him will follow Him. Those He doesn't call will not, excuses notwithstanding. God is in control.

Some really good contributions from ya'll on this thread. I appreciate it and am making a list of topics to discuss. Any particular people/theologians/atheists/debaters that you guys have listened to or read from that would be a good source of material to get others' opinions? I'm going to give mine on the channel, obviously - but, I want to be able to tackle these topics from every angle possible and leave it up the people. Thanks again!

And yes, I will link the channel when it's up and running. New camera, light, microphone due to be here Wednesday then the grind of researching, editing, publishing the topics/videos begins :)

I hate to "bump" my own thread, but really wanting to hear some theologians, historians, authors, podcasters -whatever that you guys suggest as good source material to have an open discussion on the channel? Thanks again

And the reason I request historians, authors, and the such is because I want to limit how much of the bible I actually quote. Obviously, I believe it. But, someone on the fence about Christianity or someone who outright rejects Christianity is just going to say, "you're quoting things from a book, that I don't believe in... to get me to either open my mind or to believe in it?" I will obviously at times have to cite the bible, but I don't want that to be the entire focus.

Maybe because religious or spiritual leaders are like surgeons and nobody likes to go under the knife without anesthesia or being numb or numbed out or falling asleep first... Can be painful when your awake for it... And many different people respond in many different ways to pain...

God Bless!

If it was my soul I would go by what the Son of God who shed His blood for our salvation said and not what some man said no matter who he is or was but then that's me.

The only group excluded then would be the Evangelicals? (Those who believe the gospel would be in greatest danger)

Not sure. I once had a Catholic here inform me that since he told me the Catholic Church was the one true church, if I didn’t convert I was damned.

Alright y'all. I finished up my first video. I took it easy in terms of a deep research topic because I was getting adjusted on how to make videos, edit videos, publish, etc. It was a process, but it's here! Give me your thoughts/feedback please:
… and if you don't want to be too harsh on here feel free to private message me.

Hi Phil, it would sound like a crazy doctrine. Pagans/atheists are saved but Evangelicals are doomed. But I'm sure the RCC would never formulate a crazy doctrine^_^

Pharisees, hypocrisy, dishonesty, is probably one "big one"...

Those in higher positions in the church or religions (yet not all) displaying and unbelievable lack of knowledge and/or understanding due to this as well, could be another... Lack of compassion and empathy or love could be another...

God Bless!
