Hi to all my Christian bros and sisters. Over the past 10 years, 3 of my brothers in law committed suicide. Two of them were my husband's brothers and the third was my sister's husband.
My husband is an ordained minister and has always been considered the rock in the family, though he would say that only Jesus is the Rock. He and his siblings grew up with a very abusive alcoholic father and a mom who was never affectionate but held things together the best she could and was a Christian mom and tried her best to set Christian examples for her kids.
Right now this family is reaching a new crisis that desperately needs your prayers. My husband's sister spent 17 years in law enforcement; 11 of those years she investigated the worse crimes against children one can imagine, including murder. But she was always like a lioness protecting kids and going after criminals. Eventually, her work started to cause PTSD, and she had to give up work in Crimes Against Children for investigative work elsewhere. This was about 6 years ago.
Then she lost both of her grandsons 2 years after that (4 years ago) and has been suicidal on and off since then. She also became addicted to prescription drugs during the last 4 years as she has been self-medicating her emotional pain. As we watched her decline, we grew more and more concerned for her until my husband and I agreed that if something drastic does not happen to change his sister's situation, we would lose her as well.
We thank God she finally came to the realization that she needed help and checked into a 35-day rehab facility. She has been there less than 2 weeks and cannot have visitors until next Sunday. We are definitely going. We love her.
We are praying for her daily - knowing that she is far from where she needs to be and that her near future - even after rehab will require a long road of of hard work on her part as well as our full support and love - and with God all things are possible.
I want so much for my sister in law to find healing and more than hope; to find joy. She has been a Christian since she was a child. I've seen her worship, heard her prayers, and been a witness to who she is for 25 years, so I am convinced of her salvation.
Please pray for my sister in law and friend, Mary. Any advice or Word from the Lord - please share with me. I would love to get her the book Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. I want so much to encourage her to listen to and read Joyce Meyer as I believe some of the resources for Mary's needs lie there. But I don't want to do anything out of just my own concern; but because the Lord has directed me. Please pray for Mary and for her loving husband; for her two sons and daughter; for my husband, who loves her so dearly (as do I).
Thanks all. I appreciate anything that comes from God.
