A Castro Valley man shouting profanities about President Trump attacked a Republican congressional candidate who was working an election booth at a town festival, threatening him and trying to stab him with a switchblade, authorities and the candidate said Tuesday.

We have had one Republican shot, this one tried to stab another the Press Secretary needs 24 hour Secret Service protection and Maxine Waters is still pushing open confrontations with White House staff and Congress people.

How long before someone is killed?

Here is the question:

How do you bring in civility through violence?

200 arrests for disorderly conduct and 44 interruptions in 60 min during a congressional hearing on a Supreme Court Justice.

What is wrong with these people?

This is not new. I remember reading about Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. Ronald Reagan was shot. Gabby Giffords was shot. Steve Scalise was shot.

The U.S. has the most permissive gun control laws in the developed world. The US has the highest murder rate in the developed world. We need universal gun purchase background checks and a ban on assault rifles.

It's wrong what they do. And it is wrong that high-profile Democrats and media personalities are urging them on.

However, there is nothing unfathomable about the calls for violence that the Democratic Party is engaged in. You would have to have been asleep for the past two years not to know that stirring up violence, division, and obstruction is part of a definite commitment by that political party which openly styles itself as the RESIST! movement.

Who's they? Maniacs?

What high profile Democrats and media personalities urged this maniac to attack anyone? Names please.

The real troubling part of this is that there is NO public outcry by democratic leaders for this to stop. When R's do this sort of thing, which is much more rare, there are very public statements condemning the acts. In the case of the left, you barely hear a peep. Some in the leftwing media don't even report it. Silence is an indication of the left's approval of the violence.

February, 2016 "Seriously, ok. Just knock the hell — I promise you I will pay for the legal fees, I promise."

...oh wait, that was the current head of the GOP.

Probably for the same reason we don't widely publish the names of school shooters anymore -- we don't want to encourage this sort of thing.

You can't be serious. Try this one: Maxine Waters.

At about at 5:30. Besides, as I said, silence is approval. NOT saying something against these violent acts is the same as showing support.

At about at 5:30.

"If you think we're rallying now you ain't seen nothing yet," Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif, told supporters at a rally in Los Angeles over the weekend. "If you see anybody from that (Trump) Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere."

I think that was in response to the separation of children from their parents at the border. Seems pretty valid to me, given the odiousness of the policy which I believe was eventually changed. I'm not seeing encouragement to knife anyone, just a clear, tangible expression of displeasure.

Communication is an important aspect of any relationship :)

Sadly, our political scene has become extremely polarized in recent years and there seems no easy answer to the problem.
Its a good question. Probably the only two ways to dampen the efforts at destroying political opponents (and ordinary people suspected of voting for them!), would be: 1) rigorously enforcing laws against inciting violence or threatening to murder or cause physical harm to other people, and 2) the voters delivering a slap-down on election day to those who are trying to use violence and intimidation in order to win political victories.

100% serious. Watched the video. She not once says anything about committing acts of violence towards Trump, his staff, Republican lawmakers or any of their supporters. Not once.

At about at 5:30.
She says: "tell them they are not welcome."

I don't agree with her screed or what she is saying to do but she is not telling people to get violent. That is just nonsense.

Besides, as I said, silence is approval. NOT saying something against these violent acts is the same as showing support.
What's there to say? Some Americans are freaking crazy and dangerous. That's not limited to any one side and I don't think it's any more prevalent on any side either.

We have the third largest population of the developed world, and the highest rate of gun ownership. You'll probably also find that the countries with the highest levels of car ownership report the greatest number of accidents.

Oh, and how about we remove gun-related suicides from our lists? It would only be fair to discount gun-related gang violence as well.

Walters knew very well how sensible people like yourself would understand her words. She surely also knew that there are plenty of other people who could be aroused by the call to arms and take it upon themselves to do something that would not be confined to simply telling the targets that they are "not welcome."
