Oh sure, I think most people go through that.

It is seldom logical that all our responsibility for sin would be washed clean, and we would be able to move on without the baggage dragging behind us.

But that is the promise -- that God paid for the cost of our redemption, ONCE FOR ALL. Keep reading and reflecting on the words He gave us, and it will help anchor the concept in.

It's fine to repent, to treat our salvation carefully as you have.

But when you start doubting again, read what He says about it so you don't just fall back into your own logical conclusions. Those keep us under the curse of not obeying the Law. Our faith has been considered as righteousness.

Sorry to make it sound complicated. So glad you're part of the family of God!

I've grown up in church christain background so I know it all and I found myself doubting so I said the prayer again yet still sometimes find myself doubting. Is this normal? Maybe a lot of it has to do with how I feel like my body is dieing?

You know it all?

You said a prayer again. So what did that do for you? (I'm not an advocate of the sinner's prayer to mean that it is equal to salvation).

What do you believe and what do you doubt?

Like I know jesus christ was sent by god to die on the cross for my sins, and rose again 3 days later so that i may have life forever with god an no separation.

i guess what im doubting is when i confessed with my mouth where my heart was. but when i said the prayer i know i believe in my heart that jesus died, ect... like it says in the scriptures. guess i just have to throw verses out at satan and keep my faith and trust in jesus knowing when i do die he will be there for me after all he did die for my sins.

Well, there's your problem...you're doubting whether YOU were sincere enough for salvation, but that's not what salvation truly is because then it puts everything into YOUR hands, making it into a work.

Salvation is God's work 100%.

Outside of ourselves as you clearly stated, He sent forth His Son to live a perfectly obedient life we could not and died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day.

Inside of us, God creates faith so that we may believe and have eternal life. It's not about how sincere YOU are, for God's sincerity is what matters.

You believe in the Christ who forgives your sins! That shows great faith :)

How do you know it's Satan? How do you know it's not the Holy Spirit trying to get your attention to convict you or to cause you to re-examine your standing before God?

I'm not saying you are or aren't saved, as I don't know and as it would be a violation of the rules, but I have to admit that I find it a little troubling that you equate salvation with saying a prayer, but don't say anything about your sin, God's wrath against you, repentance, or being crucified with Christ or born again.

Perhaps this is a good chance for you to reevaluate what you believe salvation entails and compare that with what scripture teaches us about our sinfulness and Christ's atonement on behalf of the elect.

Don't be so quick to assume it's the Devil, when it might be God trying to do something for your own benefit.

Sometimes I think the vilest sinner that one day is convicted and repents has an advantage when it comes to this "assurance of salvation" thing. You grew up surrounded in Christianity so the decision seemed less dramatic. God saves(calls) people from the mudhole AND He calls people like you who are outwardly clean yet still needing a Savior.

ALL you can do is take your eyes off yourself, turn to Him and say "Lord I cast all my cares on you and am believing in you to hold my relationship secure". What more can you do? Stand on your head? Wouldn't make a difference because it is He who has begun a work in you and has promised to complete that work. Eyes on Him, heart open to your Father's leading.

If you have made the good confession, and meant it, you are saved. Anything you pray now is to strengthen your relationship with the Lord and to benefit yourself and others. God doesn't need to be persuaded to do good. It is we who need to rise up in faith to walk in the promises.

Remember, God knows our needs even before we ask. So our minds then wonder, why do we have to ask? The answer is that God wants relationship, even partnership, and the prayers are good for us.

And the Lord doesn't have to hear desperate pleas for salvation over and over. He gets no enjoyment in that. But we need to exert ourselves and grow in faith toward whatever spiritual challenge is before us. In your case, it is believing for salvation.

So keep praying, but try steering your prayers toward affirming what God has already done: the fact that He has saved you. Keep drilling it down into your soul. Keep trying to look at things from that accomplished perspective. Throw the faith switch. Keep believing, according to Mark 11, you will receive the assurance.

I went through this for many years. And all my crying out really didn't do a lot of good. It was wasted time. It was only when I began to dare to believe in the goodness of God, that He really does love me and has forgiven all my shortcomings (Hos 2.14), that I began to make progress. And once I finally started believing, that progress was rapid.

The answer to doubt is faith. And faith comes when we believe in the amazingly loving and good nature of our God, as we see primarily in Jesus Christ. That's where the power to overcome lies.

Dear mikeadams. You had good replies on Not doubting salvation. I ask you and others too, what do you make of Jesus`s Words to the Lawyer, in Matthew, chapter 22, verses 35-40? Jesus answered the Lawyer: " The first and great Commandment is: " Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is: Love thy neighbour as thyself." Then Jesus states: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." God wants our love, freely given and absolutely selfless. Paul tells us in 1) Corinthians, chapter 13, verses 4-8, what love really is. Not just a good feeling, but also a Verb, ( doing-word) and Love will change our whole personality. We become loving and caring to all we know and meet, and we treat others, friends or not friends, as we love to be treated. I ask this with love, mike, being saved, does it only involve some serious prayers? or does God also want us to learn to love God with hearts, with souls, and with our minds, AS WELL as loving our neighbour as ourselves? I know that Jesus will give us His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will give us His Love, too. Jesus told us to " ask and ye will receive," we then thank God and share all love with all around us. God will see our sincere efforts, and God will approve and bless us. We will be proving our love to God by following His Commandments to LOVE and Care for our neighbour. We will stumble and fail often, but we will get up and ask God to forgive us, and God will forgive us as we forgive those who sin against us. God is Love and God wants loving children, then we follow our Saviour Jesus Christ, back to God where we came from. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.
