Yes, they can be saved. I've known 1 or 2 who were truly repentant and saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. After all, it's not by our works that we enter the kingdom of God, but by Jesus' finished work on the cross. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Our righteousness is as filthy rags. We will not be able to stand before Christ trusting in our own flesh, naming all the good works we've done. No! He will say to those, "Depart from Me, you who work iniquity, for I never knew you." Those who enter into the kingdom of God will do so by the shed blood of Jesus Christ - alone!

There are some works that we must do in order to be saved...

John 6:26-29

26Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Then also, there are works that come after one has engaged saving faith....

Acts 26:19-20
19Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: 20But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

We are not saved by our works, but good works will follow repentance!

1 John 5:1-4
1Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. 2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Faith should be accompanied by works...
James 2:18-26
18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Why would murderers and abusers get salvation but not child-molesters?

Some of the prophets in the bible where terrible males, they did some really bad stuff in their life and still god choose them to be prophets.

But, even if child-molesters, murderers, abusers etc get salvation they can still be punished by god in this life. Child-molesters, murderers and abusers deserve the death penalty/life time prison in this world.

If the molester asks forgiveness AND stops molessing children, yes. He also needs to turn himself in to the authorities so they will deal with it from the law of the land side.

Matt is not talking about child molesting, there is a deeper meaning that you must dig out. Never make a doctrine out of a sentense lifted out of a paragraph...ever.

Have You ever speeded before or during Your christian life? I mean driving too fast. Have You turned Yourself in for that? Well would You if it would kill You? If the threshhold is made way too high sinners will not turn to Christ because that means deathrow for them, so they continue in their sins, especially if they belong to a Cruel cult where if You abandon the cult means that the rest of the cultmembers finishes You off one way or another. Actually You should offer to stand guard around newborn christians houses and especially if they are afraid of cults.

The subject is molestation, not speeding. In another post in this thread, I gave scripture for restitution so your argument is with God.

Matthew 12:31

"Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven."

To me this harmonizes with the other verse you mentioned. It seems pretty apparent that there is only one unforgivable sin. I believe Jesus was talking about sin that had not been forgiven (by not being under grace) in Matthew 18:6. So I.E. those who aren't saved.

Believe me I have argued with God on this topic, I would feel slightly uncomfortable with childmolesters sitting in the same church as me and getting saved, and then turning away from their sins. but I would feel even worse if they would not, meaning that they would continue molesting kids. When I read my bible I do not see that Saul went to some prison guard immediatedly after He got saved and confessed that He had killed christians and begged to get locked up. I suppose God has a plan for every person. He had for Saul that became Paul. I hope we listen to and obey God In situations when we do not know what to do rather that listen to other peoples advise based on fear. We really need to consider what kind of churches we are. Are we antisinner, antihuman and unfriendly or how are we supposed to let Jesus shine through us. If we say Yes they can get saved but afterwards they have to take the deathpenalty then we are making ourselves their judge and God said judge not lest yourselves be judged. If we judge with deathpenalty that also makes us a killer and the bible says thou shalt not kill. However a huge debt a molester certainly owes to a lot or at least on of child. Somehow that needs to be dealt with but it might not ever be fair, the best is though that the molester giving His life to God and becoming His servant. It spares other children. God sure used Paul to do a lot of hard work. It was better for the christians to have a Paul than a Saul after all.
