Jesus is the New Covenant. The New Covenant filled the law. If you mean are we to follow the 10 commandments, then yes. However, Jesus showed us how to love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbor.

You've not answered buggy's question. Instead you say he means something he didn't say.

What is vague about living our lives according to the way Jesus Christ lived His?
You're extending a call to Judaism. You refuse to answer the question about living like Jesus did. Jesus kept the law which He plainly said we are to keep His commandments and not His Father's commandments in John 15:10.

What exactly are you implying? Jesus kept the law. To me you are saying we are to keep the law also. I need some proof of this.

What proof do you seek? Why are you so enthused about the law? I believe in trying to follow the example of Christ, which He gave to all. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Well, you may perceive what I state any way you like. I am expressing that Jesus Christ has given all of us an example of how to serve God, our neighbor and how to live daily. You may call that whatever you like.

I agree with you where suppose to follow the 10 commandments. I don't know where people get from about the ten commandments being thrown out the window.

The Law leads us to our Savior.....it was never intended to save or keep us saved.Faith does that. “The righteous by faith shall live.”

I have no idea how you derive I promote keeping the law. If Jesus kept the law as required by a Jew, you are telling us to live like a Jew under the law. Thanks to God and His awesome Son Jesus we are not under the law.

How anyone can say I am enthused about the law is beyond me.

In what way are we to follow Jesus?

Those of chapter 4:1-3 were infiltrating the church and even part of his congregation. Some went out from them, but John says they never were part of them. I'm sure you've heard of the Gnostics. That was them and you should at least be able to see that 1:6 is not about a Christian- they walk in darkness and there is no truth in them. I just want you to know that neither is 8 and 10. If you know anything about Semitic styles of writing, in chapter 1 every other verse from 5 to the end are opposites about Christians verses Gnostics. Verse 9 is how to become a Christian and when you are cleansed of all your sins.
Thanks hehe Yep I is ignorant.

Why or why not? Please explain with the support of the scripture.

EDIT 1: Let me rephrase the question to make it clearer. The question is NOT whether a Christian needs to be sinless in order to be saved, but rather, whether a truly born-again Christian with the Holy Spirit living within them would choose to deliberately commit a sin over and over again, with no intention to make effort to eliminate that sin from their life.

EDIT 2: To clarify what sin I am referring to:
Any sin that is considered to be sin in the New Testament under the new covenant (NOT Jewish laws about food, days, festivals), such as but not limited to:

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV)

For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. (Hebrews 10:26-27 NASB)

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? (Romans 6:1-2 NASB)

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? (Romans 6:15-16 NASB)

No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. (1 John 3:6-9 NASB)
I think you've answered your own question. I suggest you don't get hung up over sin and sinners.

Because while grace abounds where there is sin, but it's us also true that grace super abounds where there is rest. So rest in the finished work of Christ and don't worry about sin or committing sin.

Be Jesus conscious and live without blame instead of being sin conscious and live in.condemnation.

I think some christians think that since they are born again, they have a responsibility to not sin. But we never needed permission to sin in the first place. We're not perfect and we will only live completely without any sin when we go to heaven and/or Jesus' second coming.

You keep persisting that I advocate living under the law. That is not true. I explained thoroughly Jesus's example of how He desires us to live. Either you can't understand my posts or you just continue to misconstrue them.
