Hi Folks - just joined the Forums.
Attend the local Baptist church here in the UK.
To be honest my immediate reason for joining was to see if I can get any help on a particular issue. Namely information on the premise that God's timekeeping only works when his people{Israel} are serving Him. I read about this once with confirmation from the Old Testament.
I think the idea was from a book by Dr Frederick Tatford - a UK author with substantial knowledge on prophecy.
Didn't get anywhere googling this but any help would be appreciated

Greetings! I am glad you are here. God bless you. Can you explain more the question you have about God's timekeeping?

Greetings, and welcome to CF, @spantax. May you find godly encouragement, warm fellowship, and engaging discussion here. I don't know the answer to your question, but Tatford has been discussed on a few posts here. I found that out by putting his name (last name only) in the search field in the top right corner of the home page. (It should be right under your Inbox.) God bless you.

It was something I read by Dr Tatford in one of his books some time ago. I am afraid I am a bit vague about this but he mentioned two dates in Israels history from the Old Testament. Elsewhere the Bible mentions the number of years between the dates and this appears to be incorrect until you look at the times Israel was turning its back on God. These are mentioned in the Bible. If you subtract this total of years from the interval between the two date you arrive at the figure mentioned in the Old Testament.
I just wanted to check that out.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Not heard about the idea that Dr. Tatford is putting forward...could you give a little more context? I.e. specifically *what* is stopped until Israel obeys?

It "sort of" rings a bell with the sort of thing my father would say...that the "hands of God's prophetic clock" stop for some particular reason. Am I right in guessing that your pre-trib in terms of Christ's second coming, if so that would ring truer as well (a position my father takes but I don't).

Thanks!
Difficult to be specific as its a while since I read the passage in question. Something to do with God not dealing nationally with Israel when the nation is not serving Him.
Dr Tatford was connected with the Plymouth Brethren but died some time ago. I used to like reading the magazine that he edited "Prophetic Witness". It was the only publication on prophecy I was able to find at that time in the uk.
I do tend towards the pretrib position although for a while I was interested in the midtrib position. As I get older I tend to get less dogmatic on the subject - God has a way of doing things differently to what we could imagine. (Look at Donald Trump for example)

Okay interesting! I am not sure the answer to that. I hope you are able to find out your answer. God bless.
