• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Failure. Failure and unanswered prayers. I realized I was alone in all of this... I don't feel God's love, and I don't think I ever really did. God doesn't love me.

I'm kind of worried about you Brother. I've been praying for you, and suddenly I realized that you have a fixation with failure. Your eyes are on the foaming water at your feet, and not upon Jesus.

Remember the bible story about Peter walking on the water and then he began to sink? You hve to get out of the boat, and keep your eyes on Jesus. Then he walked on the water. The minute he took his eyes off of Jesus, and saw the foaming water at his feet, and the waves and wind...he began to sink...There's a very good lesson in there for us. Keep your eyes on Jesus and just trust Him. You may not feel his presence upon you, but He IS there.

The Lord doesn't work with earthly emotions and feelings. He prefers to work through us deadpan, and not all worked up into a spiritual emotional frenzy like those tv healing guys...."Healed!!'
Calm cool and collected is what the Lord likes. Trust with no 'feeling' or anything like that. Like when you come home from work and your wife isnt there. You don't think, oh she's gone now and will never return...you just know, and trust. She had something to do so went out, she'll be back.
Like that.

Yes He does.
Prayers are not always answered the way we ask them to be. But He works all things to the good of those who love Him.
There was one instance in my life where I did not "feel" the existence of God. (It didn't believe, or at least not entirely, in His existence until these past couple years. But I always knew, always "felt" there was something higher, something more meaningful. Except for one night of my life. The night I very well could have been murdered had I not fought my way out. I did not "feel" His existence/ presence that night, nor His love for that matter. I've never felt more Alone in my life. Before or since.
But He WAS there. I know because Im alive. This may all seem like nonsense to you but three times in my life I very possibly could have died but didn't. There's no accident in that.
There's no accident in my typing this, or your reading this. Or in any tiny detail of any moment.
And as hard as it is for you to believe, there's no accident in you.
O-KAY... as usual I'm doing a poor job of explaining myself. I am a FAILURE! Put down your Bibles and pick up a copy of Webster's Dictionary and look it up. If there is ANY difficulty at all... I can't do it. If it's meaningful and good for me (makes me a better person) I can't do it. If it's something most anyone can accomplish like passing basic school classes, I CAN'T DO IT!!! You've all said the road isn't easy, and that's all you need to know. If God was gonna give me any help it would have done it already. As far as I can tell, my "gift" is to show people what they never want to become. A stupid wretch who can't do anything and never will. There is no hope for me and only further suffering when I pass away... AND THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THAT! I don't need to try anything to know the outcome... I fail... and that's the best I can possibly be.
