The books of the bible were written by and for the reading of people who came out of the Mesopotamian and Egyptian cultures that considered the earth to be flat. So it only makes sense that the language used to describe things will include allusions to this belief.
Notwithstanding this there are also a number of passages that contradict the flat earth thinking, such as sins being removed as far as the east is from the west for example.

Actually, in 1 Gradolgy 8:697 it says that the earth is a flat square and one day the bad people will walk off the edge, never knowing where it is. It is the key verse in the unalterable truth that works save you. The unbelievers fail to carry a rope, the supporters of works carry one that is too short.

I remember in grammar school a teacher telling us the world was spinning at a 1,000 miles an hour (and she was right), but then she picked up a globe and spun it with her hand as fast as she could to demonstrate (which was wrong). The earth isn't spinning like that, for it takes 24 hours for the earth to make just one rotation. But because the earth is 24,000 miles around it's diameter, it does move 1,000 miles an hour. Not only is the earth spinning, it is orbiting around the sun, taking about 365 days for one orbit. The Sun is not "standing" still either, nor the solar system. The entire galaxy is moving. Oh what a God we have, that created all this, and maintains it from the microscopic to the telescopic!

It is hard to describe time when everyone moving at the same pace. Like a group of skydivers that is falling down at the same pace. To them all, that it may seem that they are moving downward at a slow pace. But if someone that is watching them from out of the box can see how fast that they are falling. One time I was speeding but did not know that I was because everyone else on the highway were. It seem as if I were doing less than the posted speed limit, until I had looked at the speedometer gauge. And remember the earth is traveling thousands of miles per hour. But how many miles that you can travel in an hour?

The vast majority of your references are poetry. And yes, as we all know, poetry is always completely literal. :doh:

I see the weather channel using "sunrise" and "sunset" all the time. Clearly, they are expressing how the sun moves around the static earth, because there's no way such a common expression can't be 100% literal. :doh:

People say "automobile" because they obviously believe the vehicle is moving literally all by itself. There's no possible way such a common word shouldn't be understood as 100% literal. :doh:

It baffles me why some people are reluctant to admit that people in biblical times thought the earth was flat. The bible itself leaves no doubt about it.
