Nah, Mueller seems like he's honest. If he uses Democrats to show that nothing happened, it erases one of the inevitable excuses.

You make a good point ( a moment of rare agreement here...! ). Whether part of a cunning plan, or simply an honest attempt to recruit the best people, if Mueller has indeed 'stacked' his team with mainly left-leaning people, the vindication of Trump et al will be all the more significant...if that's how their investigations pan out...

So, for those of you who earnestly believe that 'there's nothing to see here', you should be wildly cheering...!

One could certainly argue that the special counsel is clearly leaning to the Left. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good smearing.
Yeah, Mueller, first appointed to District Attorney by Reagan, then to Asst. Attorney General by Bush I, Deputy District Attorney by Bush II and Director of the FBI by Bush II. He's a Republican himself, but clearly left leaning, eh?

It's obvious that Mueller is in the tank for the liberals, just like James Comey, the former registered Republican
(just kidding:wink:).

And...? This is about the fake story that Trump is going to fire Mueller.

Actually, the thread asks whether Trump will fire Mueller. Friends of Trump did actually float the idea...or do you maintain those events never happened?

I did not assail him . I simply pointed out the conflict of interest that ethically requires him to recuse himself.

Assail was probably too strong a word. If Mueller felt there was any conflict of interest, he would have recused himself.

Explanation:

A special counsel was appointed because the House and Senate Intelligence Committees could have more aptly been named the "Coverup Committees." It was obvious that they had no interest in uncovering the truth--meeting for dinner with Trump the night before so he could give them a game plan to contain the damage of the Comey testimony, and of course Devin Nunes night in the bushes.

The truth will never be uncovered without subpoenaing the evidence that is necessary to uncover the truth--one way or the other. That evidence lies in his tax returns. If there are loans from Russian businessmen (or mobsters) they will show up. The numerous ambiguities in his finances, including how he was rescued in the 2008 recession, will be there.

And since he promised to release his tax returns "after they were audited" numerous times during the campaign, it should be no problem for him to do so.

Trump interviewed Robert Mueller for FBI director[/quote
Jun 13, 2017

A day before former FBI Director Robert Mueller accepted the appointment to be the special counsel probing Russian meddling in the presidential election, President Trump met with him to talk about taking another turn as FBI director.

The interview was first mentioned by Trump friend and Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy in an interview on PBS' "NewsHour" Monday evening.

Mr. Trump, Ruddy said, "was looking at [Mueller] potentially to become the next FBI director. That hasn't been published but it's true."

Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed Tuesday night to reporters that Mr. Trump interviewed Mueller "I believe the day before he was made special counsel." Sanders said that while Mr. Trump has the right to fire Mueller, he has no intention of doing so.

Trump interviewed Robert Mueller for FBI director
****************************************************************
President Trump interviewed Mueller for the position of FBI Director (May 16th) one day before he was appointed as Special Council (May 17th).

That meeting has been confirmed by Trump confidant Chris Ruddy and Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

It would appear that Trump is already preparing his "attack dogs" to follow the familiar routine of defaming the character and reputation of those who might pose a threat - those personal attacks could even include the same person that "The Donald" was considering for FBI Director, less than a month ago!

aApparently Trump's advisors provided the President with a much needed lesson in American civics concerning to the logistics to firing a Special Council.

The President cannot fire the Special Council, Robert Mueller, directly - it must be handled through his surrogates at the Justice Department.

Jeff Sessions, the Attorney General has already recused himself for dealing with Russian issues, so how could he fire the Special Council tasked with looking into Russian meddling?

The Assistant Attorney General was the person who appointed Robert Mueller as Special Council and he is already on the record that he would not replace Robert Mueller based on nothing more than the President's request.

Trump would then have to fire his own Assistant Attorney General and proceed down the chain of command at the Justice Department until he eventally found someone willing to comply with the President's request!
