I love to go to partys. the parties I'm talking about are drinking partys. drugs are used, and majority of the people are drinking under age. there is usually 300 people bercause I live in a small place.

what I want to know is if

christians should go?

Does it matta if they're open or private?

and if they do what rules should the follow?

Should they buy alcohol for young guns?

Just curious cause it sais in the bible in Gal 5 Sumthing about partys being wrong. and just wondering to what extent that is. and maybe try to follow a couple of christian rules cause I kinda walked into a mates house drunk and all my friends from church and school was there. and they said I shouldn't even associate with those people at partys. and I shouldn' touch alcohol

I agree. Not on any religious grounds, just on the grounds that high schoolers, big groups, and alcohol, dont usually mix for a safe and all over fun time.

I think the largest problem though is the big group. There are high schoolers that can actually act mature with alcohol. They can drink, get drunk and have fun, without the high level of stupidity that they are commonly known for. But they are rare compared to the general, stupid high schooler.

If that makes any sense. :)

do you mean Galatians 5/21 ? well I'm not sure !!!
reasons against getting drunk are for me though :
1) I don't have control over myself which is totally not a good thing !!
2) I'm too young
3) not sure if I could get addicted cause I'm already eating sometimes to feel better, don't wanna risk that !!!!
4)you can have fun without drinking eh ? :)

there's this book called Soul Sista-how to be a girl of God and
well the gal who wrote it was wondering too whether she should go to this party where everybody'd just get drunk & ya know 'sin around' whatever :)
well she did go but not drink anything, had fun & got asked about how come she could have so much fun w/out getting completely drunk and all.
I know it can turn out that you'll get weird looks or whatever cause of that too but I think it can be a cool possibility to let your light shine aswell eh ?

well if you're insecure about what you could actually get involved there & that it's affecting you in a bad way I'd say... don't go.

& pray about it anyway :) ask God to show you what he wants you to do..

I prefer to not drink at all cause I'm not sure if I'll be able to really draw the line plus I'm too young but will be allowed in some months..
well I think it's not necessary, try to look honestly at yourself & see if you're risking something, Pray about it, i'd say don't drink you don't need that :)

Father please show JesusFreak the way, draw her all close to You and fill her heart with Your love, peace and joy. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen

There is definitely an inverse relationship between the size of the group and its collective intelligence.

I will be 20 in two weeks, I don't drink now, never have, and never will. My sister has gotten into the underage drinking parties and got a minor last week and had to be brought home by the cops. Bad News. She has been able to stop since then, but its hard because all of her friends do it. Here are the reasons I don't drink.

1. If I can't have fun with people without gettin drunk then they probably aren't great friends.
2. My family has had a history of alcohol abuse, that caused many problems with my parents marriage. I think its disrespectful to be so careless with something that has already caused so many problems in my family.
3. My boyfriend would break up with me if I went out and got drunk all the time.
4. I don't want to embarrass my family or friends, or myself.

Hmm, I could go on and on. Most importantly I think you should avoid parties like these because you could get into trouble with the law, or find yourself in a situation you can't control. My mom works in the ER all the time and has girls come in who have been date raped while they were drinking. Be very very careful.

My friends and I hang out every weekend, we are going bowling tonight :) Most of us live on our own, so we watch ourselves, don't have to worry about our parents getting mad, but we still have much more fun watching a movie, going bowling, or a bunch of other things. I hope you and your friends can find some more wholesome activities to take part in. Good luck, I will be praying for you!

Romans, 13:13
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

Proverbs 23:19-21
Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path.
Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.

Romans, 14:21
It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

points:
it may become a stumbling block for other christians.
being drunk may cause you to sin.
being drunk takes you away from God.

Being a nonchristian, I wouldnt think too much of it.

As going to a party, or getting drunk and having fun doesnt bother me, or think of anyone as any less christian.

However the way you act, etc, at the parties (having fun but still being mature, or acting stupid), does reflect on you, but still not dirrectly on your religion.

Quite frankly, I think people who take their religion way too extreme or people who use religion to gain lots of money and decieve people, etc, ranks much much higher on the list of bad things than going to a party.

But, thats just my opinion. :) :)

Today at 03:59 PM supermagdalena said this in Post #9 (http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?postid=701596#post701596)

The truth is, for nonChristians, you reflect Christ. It may not be the way it should be, but it really is. So what are those nonChristians going to assume if you go to these parties?

Christain or not getiing drunk means you are taking a terrible risk and at a party where drugs are makes that risk even higher. If you think i am too old to understand --i grewup in a very hard drinking town and parties went on everyweekend in high school. i din t drink so i was a social outcast but at least i m atill alive unlike 6or7 people i grew up with most of whom did in car crashes and all befor e they were 21 because of going to parties.
So smarten up unless you have a death wish girl. this is not a game you re playing it s your life!!
