So do Il I also hope and pray that we do not try to limit God to our own understandings. He acted through objects in the OT times and He can now. No where in scripture does it say that He never will again but it does say that He has before.

I am not limiting God by disagreeing with relic veneration, nor am I blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

Yes, but there's a huge difference between saying that...and 'penciling in' beliefs for him.

It is not the case that men can invent any doctrine that seems appealing so long as we don't have God's word specifically saying that it isn't true.

You're making a leap in logic and saying that just because YOU don't interpret the New Testament as saying that relics have been acted on and used by God must therefore mean that it will never happen again even though it never says that and states quite clearly in the Old Testament that it did in fact happen before.

You are therefore taking that power away from God, calling every last one of the saints false, and insisting that heeding what scripture *actually* says on this point is idolatry

Give me a Bible verse where it says that veneration of relics is permitted.

Oh, and I would be very careful in accusing someone of "taking the power away from God" just because they don't agree with you. That is a very serious judgement to make against someone.

Are you posting this to imply that the innumerable miracles associated with icons and relics of the Saints are false signs and wonders?

I am saying that not all signs and wonders are from God. Each person must judge for themselves and pray for discernment in the matter.

We venerate our brothers and sisters in the faith who God has revealed to be Saints. Our praxis is wholly consistent with our theology. We are one body made up of believers who are all alive in Christ. It matters not that some are physically dead because death was defeated by Christ when He rose on the third day after His death and burial. God is not the God of the dead but of the living. Jesus commanded us to love one another and this is one way in which we demonstrate our love towards our brothers who have 'fallen asleep'. Their love for us is amply demonstrated by their prayers for us before the throne of God. As I have mentioned before, the miracles associated with their icons and relics are innumerable.

The law of God is love.
