Bump.
I just thought well, the calvinst forum is that a way...we baptists here, so just sayin'.
They even have their own part under the presy section titled 'debate with a calvinist' cos they love debating.

I dont, not cos its a non issue but simply cos the Bible tells us to avoid foolish arguments.

Calvinists aren't exclusively Presbyterian. A lot of Baptists, especially in the U.S. of which is the majority demographic on these forums, are Calvinists.

Quite a few people identify with one or more of the five 'TULIP' points of Calvinism and so claim Calvinistic leanings, but the same could be said about Arminians. You're likely Arminian(of which many Baptists also are) but they aren't asked to post elsewhere.

What? o_O Sorry, I am not a native English speaker. Could you please rephrase that sentence, so that I can understand it?

I'm a Baptist with a Lutheran slant. I do like arguing, but non-Reformed believers make it so difficult when studying Scripture.

Goodbook, I just hope your not like most non-Calvinists these days who studies the Scriptures and reads yourself into it. I honestly get tired of arguing over predestination and free will crap. I have enough problems telling Arminian types to stop reading you d$@$! Self into Scripture. Scripture isn't about us. We shouldn't be reading Moses and trying to understand what the Egyptians in our lives we need saving from.

I consider myself baptist because of all the main points, however, I am struggling with the fact that I think I am the only one who is pro choice. I am against abortion and believe it is wrong, however, being an independent woman I feel we should have the choice. This is why i am also struggling with why women can't preach. so with those 2 things ding me from being baptist..lol... I have resorted to calling myself christian and saved...which saved me the most important part..

Considering baptist churches are autonomous, it doesn't ding you in that respect. If anything, my Lutheran-esque view probably dings me more than you, because of baptism. There are several baptist on here who would stand side by side with you.

Um..pro choice meaning not to be forced to have an abortion, right?
And nobody said women cant preach. Just not be in authority over men, like teaching them. Cos men ought to be taught by men and women by women. Preaching the gospel is fine, its different from teaching.
Teaching would be more like discipling. A woman cant disciple a man i mean theres just some things she cant teach a man, and men arent likely to listen to a woman telling them what to do.

No, no-one is force to have an abortion. Being ‘pro-choice’ means not to be force to not have an abortion.

Being ‘pro-choice’ means that you think the woman has the right to choose whether or not she will have an abortion, and that abortion is OK and permissible; being ‘pro-life’ means that you think the foetus has the right to live, and that abortion is wrong and condemnable (except, perhaps, in some rare circumstances).

I think you have just contradicted yourself: you are pro-choice but against abortion? o_O

This is why i am also struggling with why women can't preach.

I think the Bible is sufficiently clear that women should not be pastors/preachers, considering 1 Timothy 2:12 and 1 Timothy 3:2-7.

so with those 2 things ding me from being baptist..lol...

I do not think so; many liberal Christians, some of who might consider themselves as Baptists, would agree with you.

I have resorted to calling myself christian and saved...which saved me the most important part..

That is true! :)

this is the title of the link given in baptist statement of faith pinned notice

http://www.angelfire.com/la/jlush/baptist.html

So I thought it might help some people and we can discuss why we are baptists.
I was thinking of leaving this forum because some of the mods seem to think I dont belong here. But I agree with everything on this website link and was wondering what the issue is?

If you notice, one of the headings talks about individual soul liberty.
I dont want to start a debate, but I noticed some posters do not seem to believe this, and yet seem to teach the opposite on a baptist forum. But it is one of our distinctions.

So that is one of the reasons I am baptist, because God gave me this freedom to decide. Even though he loved me while I was still a sinner, in no way was I ever forced to believe. And I think thats the great thing about God.

Plus all the other reasons, praise the Lord. 10,000 reasons.
Grace and peace to you.
Goodbook,
You belong here!! God did not force any of us here. He simply exercised the power of His will according to His eternal decree and made us willing and happy to oblige to that will. Therefore, I am so happy that you are such a recipient of this irresistible grace upon your life as it is upon mine!

I believe abortion is wrong and against God, but unfortunely not all follow God. :-( in a perfect world people wouldn't even think twice about having one, but the world is far from perfect. That is why I said, I dont know what to call myself..I am against abortion but everyone should have the right to choose just like we choose what religion if any we follow. You know what is more funny is I would consider myself more conservative. lol not liberal I am accepting of other whether or not they believe as I do or not.

Well...those people who dont follow God want to choose death but you are not one of them.
But some people do not have a choice or know they CAN have a choice to allow their unborn child to live.

Most People in china are forced to have abortions, they have no choice, if they have a second child, due to the one child policy. So how can that be pro choice????

I think you need to sort this issue out and more imprortantly ask God about what it means to have free will. Choose this day who you will serve.

Joshua 24:15
I know who I serve, I serve Jesus Christ. I asked him into my life in 1996, though I have not been as close as I should have been to him the last 12, I am still a child of God and will be going to heaven when my time comes.

Because its wrong. Its murder.
And God will judge them. And they will have to live with it for the rest of their life. I know cos a friend had one and was consumed with guilt over it and it ruined her reproductive system.
She was not a christian.

just b/c a person is pro choice does not mean they will choose to have an abortion, they may never be in that situation. I will not have an abortion ,but who am I do tell someone else they can not either.
I can tell tell I believe it is wrong, but that is all.

I agree with you is wrong and murder. My own point to this was I dont know what to call myself, pro choice or pro life. I am pro life but I do not believe in telling others what to do with their life.
