Yup….been in churches like this. People need to find Christ for themselves, instead of relying or someone else to tell them whats right or wrong. Find Jesus and let him direct your paths what and how you should dress. One persons conscience isn't anothers. Legalism, the killer of grace, then after grace is gone easy to judge others by "your standards", rather than the word.

She explained the revival meeting, and said, "My pastor, You are not telling us the truth of the Way of the Lord Jesus". He replied, "Oh my God, you have gone to worship with all these churches! For God has nothing to do with your way of dressing because you have believed Him in your mind". Because of what the pastor said, she went back home and started dressing in her old worldly ways again. After service one day, on her way back home, she got involved in an auto accident and she died and went to hell fire! IT WAS INSIDE HELL FIRE SHE WAS CRYING, "I WILL NEVER FORGIVE MY PASTOR!" GOD IS HOLY! HEAVEN IS HOLY! NO DEFILEMENT CAN ENTER!

Our justification is the righteousness of Christ, not our ability to carry out the law. Not that some of the things that this "testimony" speaks about are even sins. The scripture tells us in 1 John 2 that when anyone sins we have an advocate before the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Our salvation doesn't hinge on how we look on the outside, but whether we are born again and cleansed on the inside by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and our ongoing sanctification. We can be beautiful on the outside, but full of unrighteousness inside..as our Lord said, white-washed tombs.

Some hell and heaven testimonies are not from God. You have to check them. I heard one which first sounded good and then she said she saw women in hell for dying their hair and using make up. Right, so that one was false. Show me in Scripture where it says you can't color your hair or go to hell for using mascara.

Thats the way my old preacher taught and believed….jezebel cut her hair, so there was the scripture not to be like jezebel and cutting hair was sin. And at the time it sounded right, and my pastor was teaching it, how could it be wrong…..however my old pastor also taught to be a free thinker and seek after Christ FOR YOURSELF. As I did and the years went by, and my pastor was gone I seeked God on this, and its amazing all that I learned FOR MYSELF. My poor pastor had missed it, and had not interpreted the scriptures rightly. It would take too long to say all that I found out, but I found out why she had cut her hair…..long story short, before she cut her hair she was already EVIL, cutting it isn;t what made her evil, she cut it to trick the man of God had sent to spare her life, cutting of her hair was to show she had repented of her sins, and her make up was to trick him to think she was done and thrilled he had come……nice try, but it didn't work. So short hair, long hair, make up or none she was still evil, she didn't become evil for cutting it.

I never read the story about Jezebel cutting her hair. Where is it exactly?

I think they get it from 2 kings chapter 9. Not sure if there are other scriptures on the story as well.

I don't believe women were allowed to cut their hair in the Bible. That it was Jewish Talmudic rules which women used to cut their hair when their husbands passed away. But this is not biblically mandated so far as I recall from my past readings.

I would agree, but in this instance this is what some, like my old pastor preached, that she cut her hair and I'm sure its still believed today. And I doubt that she also invented make up either and just because she wore it doesn't mean its sin….she went for walks also, so should that now be counted evil as well….seems silly doesn't it. But this is what many have been taught.

Those old preachers, God love them, were so earnest. But they did teach a lot of error didn't they? But, back then people were not reading their Bibles as we do today. They only knew what the preacher said. I think that is how a lot of religious cults got started.

In numerous places in Scripture it states it's about our hearts. Now if someone thinks their makeup, jewelry, etc is "all that" then maybe an evaluation is in order. Because there's a difference in looking nice and being prideful with that being a god. However, for me to look at someone else and judge their salvation based totally on their physical appearance is just "clothesline" scrutiny.

The ESV study notes state:

she painted her eyes and adorned her head. This could mean only that Jezebel met her end proudly, dressed up as a queen should be. The way one dresses has nothing to do with ones Salvation.

"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by Faith without the deeds of the Law. "-Romans 3:28

If you have to dress a certain way to obtain Salvation, then your saying you must work for your Salvation.

If that's true then not only is the above verse false,but Scripture in its entirety may be found a lie...

So I ask.... Are you calling God a liar?

The woman who lusts and desires for gold jewelry and spends all day putting on makeup all day is in danger of idolatry. It depends on how important her makeup and her jewelry is. Let's not forget that Idolatry is not necessarily just worshipping idols in the sense that you're worshipping false gods (who does that nowadays, who calls themselves a Christian?). It can also be anything that distracts you from God; God is supposed to be first and foremost in your life, and then everything else follows after Him.

Though I will note another thing that nobody in this thread has mentioned: Paul has told us not to put a "stumbling-block" in front of others. The women who like to wear the sensual revealing clothing is doing just that for men. Men are not to lust after women; Jesus tells us that if we look at a woman and we desire to be with her, then we've already committed adultery in our hearts.

If a woman walks around with revealing clothing, showing half of her breasts, or miniskirts that show too much, and a man lusts after her because of it, then she's just as guilty of that sin as he is. I personally think a lot of women, even some saved Christians, are one day going to have to answer for themselves when He asks them why they were dressing like that, and have to stand in front of a large line of men who are guilty of lusting after her and have to answer for what she did.

In the dream the OP posted, that might be partly why the woman was being warned about the way she was dressing. However, to actually say a woman will go to Hell for dressing in a risque manner? I don't know. That's going along the lines of "can you lose your salvation?" and I really don't want to open that can of worms here. I will say, though, that if a woman is a Saved Christian, she should have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which justifies her and then sanctifies her over time, and she would surely dress more modestly and turn away from sinful things and treat her own body with some respect (instead of showing it off like a common harlot would).
