This is from the speech he gave before evangelicals, the same speech in which he attacked veterans.

=============
People are so shocked when they find ... out I am Protestant. I am Presbyterian. And I go to church and I love God and I love my church," he said.

Moderator Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions.

"I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so," he said. "I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't."

Trump said that while he hasn't asked God for forgiveness, he does participate in Holy Communion.

"When I drink my little wine -- which is about the only wine I drink -- and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed," he said. "I think in terms of 'let's go on and let's make it right.'"

Was that before or after he dissed a war hero..?

It was in the same speech. I believe that it was before. We could check by googling the speech. CNN noted that the speech might have had even more headlines and opposition if the attack on McCain not happened. These comments are much more damaging to candidate that needs to appeal to Catholics and to evangelical Protestants.

The American obsession with the perceived belief in God of election candidates is very tiring.

You're not electing the most holy candidate, or more likely the one who lies about it best. You're electing the best man or woman to lead all citizens, no matter their religious denomination over the coming 4 years...

I understand your position. It may make sense in Europe. In the US, where over 95% self identify as believing in God, having a person of faith in the White House is important to us.

Misrepresenting what Trump has said in the press is typical of media being many of the outlets are partisan . However it should be said Trump never attacked veterans. He remarked about John McCain. Who himself admitted he broke under torture while in the Hanoi Hilton as a POW.

Thanks for sharing this. I like how he is honest about his faith and this fleshes out again what media hopes to dilute soas to make him appear not religious with the GOP base.
