No, apparently you're being overly-dramatic here, Seventh. I've made it clear that the vast majority of Orthodox DO NOT accept any form of evolution as compatible with the faith if you read the Fathers, the saints, hierarchs, and our best theologians. But never have I nor anyone else in here called you a heretic or implied it. You're not a heretic.

But here's the thing...have you considered reading the other side of the debate? When I was pro-evolution, I had the "you're anti-science!!!!" anger toward anyone who dared challenge it. Have you tried reading the Father Seraphim Rose/Hiermonk Damascene book about Genesis and Evolution? I'm reading it right now. Frankly, someone as intelligent and convicted over the subject as yourself would be a WONDERFUL resource to bounce thoughts off of while reading this. His reasoning, data, information, and theology in the book are quite powerful. I'd like to hear your responses to him.

Again, you're not a heretic, but I think evolution is bad joo-joo theologically speaking. Yes, several churches are ok with theistic evolution.

I was raised in the other side.

Also I am not smart(far from believe me) I am just an averge guy trying to not taken advantage of again by a religious group. I am trying hard to find God.

this is not something that you should fret over. there are many on here who believe in evolution and are in good standing with the Church. if you have problems, just ask God to let you know when He knows you are ready. Orthodoxy does not ask you to understand or even like what the Church teaches, but be humble enough to accept the Church's teaching. you wanna be a skeptic? good, be one. Christ can use that because it shows you won't just follow any old dog and pony show.

if you are a theistic evolutionary leaning fellow, that is fine. as you pray and draw to Christ, if He wants to let you know something, He will.

and I used to believe in evolution, even wanting to be a paleontologist for a while.

In good standing with the Church... but gravely mistaken, succumbing to modernism, following something antithetical to tradition, and contrary to all the Fathers, by the lights of some of the other posters here. Oh, and tantamount to promoting abortion, promiscuity, etc. And the existence of posters even countenancing it is proof of the destruction of this forum and the eventual outlawing of traditional views. And the possible imprisonment of those dissenters.

Of course, but that doesn't mean that invoking fathers lightly is in any way excusable, if you ask me. Should I be afraid of insulting anyone just because I have the courage to say that I don't think that is alright, or what is it you are implying?

:)

I try never to imply anything, but to say what I mean, as kindly as possible.

And what I meant is what I said. That we should avoid insults, and seek out the good that we can find.

(And I'm not saying one cannot or should not disagree, since it's possible to disagree without insulting someone.)

And I commended you on your desire to support Seventh. :)

Ok thanks for the encouragement all. I am going to leave this topic alone for now.

I got to get back to reading Mountain of Silence. It also has been a couple of weeks since I went to a vesper or litugry(due to Christmas services/parties at my wife's Methodist church).

Hmmmm. I'm missing Church only going to one Liturgy this week, and only two last week. I was seriously spoiled for a while. I'm almost tempted to move to a large city so I can attend 3x a week or so. ;)

That book is on my reading list to look for a copy. It sounds very interesting! It's going to take me a few months to read what I've got in front of me, but when I start looking again, that one's near the top of my list. :)
