What do you think about the claims that your beliefs are satanic and that the origins of the teachings you follow are of demons and fallen angels? The thousands of people who convert from spiritualism/oneness to Christianity because they felt they were under demonic influence and that they didn't stop until they cried Jesus name?

Please answer these with detailed in-depth replies.

Have you ever heard of sleep paralysis? I have it and it is very scary. I read that if a person can remember to say the Lord's Prayer when they are experiencing sleep paralysis you break out of it.

On one occasion I was able to remember that advice. I started the Lord's Prayer and broke out of it almost immediately. In my case i do not believe it is a satanic dream but a neurological, sleep disorder issue. But God/Christ still came to my rescue.

I have had 2 other awake experiences of encounters with Christ and the Holy Spirit. Always there is immediate calming warmth as though I am being cradle in strong loving arms.

Darn it, one second too late. I was about to ask the same thing about Christians. Thousands of Christians didn't find peace until they stop and cried out, Buddha be praised.

Sleep paralysis is somewhat common and is usually caused by gaining consciousness before your brain totally wakes up. This causes the signals being sent to your limbs not to be processed and in effect you can't move. I remember it used to happen to me quite often.

Yes I have read that 1 in 4 will experience it at least once during their life. For those of you with recurring episodes - remember the Lord's Prayer [that advice is mainly for me]!

lol!! dazed I have never heard that. Buddha is dead and a non-god. Would it be his teachings that people are dreaming about? Or maybe dream about meditating about yourself as inner god?

I also know that there are many Muslims dreaming of Jesus and converting.

Yeah back when it happened a quick prayer to Jesus was what I did as I was a Christian at the time. It also happened when I was a non Christian and it eventually passed like before without prayer..

As to the op, when I explored different paths in paganism i didn't think the beliefs were demonic or satanic and I think that all claims that they were, were dumb. What eventually lead me away from paganism was the beliefs seemed 'dead', not demonic or satanic.

It's kind of annoying because the people who make that declaration know practically nothing about what I believe or how I practice and they probably don't care either because their religion doesn't allow for non-members to be OK.

I've been a practicing Witch for years and never experienced any demons, possessions or haunted houses. And if Satan and the devils want me to appreciate the world we live in and the other animals and plants and to try not to be a jerk towards others, then he doesn't sound bad.

How am I supposed to interact with people who think I'm deceived by evil or even possessed by it? Frankly, I think that attitude just alienates me even further from the big religions.

The thousands of people who convert from spiritualism/oneness to Christianity because they felt they were under demonic influence and that they didn't stop until they cried Jesus name?

I would have recommended they seek sound psychological counseling from a certified doctor instead.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is it not true that one of the following must be correct?

Either:

The figures and deities of folk-religions were co opted into Christianity and were then labelled as evil

Or

They are entirely a construct of Christianity, and in which only Christians or derived groups actually believe.

Awitch is correct. Most people who accuse pagans of satanic practices know very little about paganism.

Gord: I am exploring anglosaxon paganism.

Christian friend: that stuffs satanic.

Gord: thunor, the god of thunder, is actually what Thursday is named after.

Christian friend: Thursday is satanic!

How is do you not view the practices and anti-islam? If the these supernatural abilities don't come from allah then where do they come from?

Well first of all, the moment I hear a Christian say "I was a Wiccan" or "I studied the occult" I barrage them with questions about those subjects. More often than not, they were lying to establish credibility but the lies become very apparent when they start talking because they just don't know what they're talking about.

As far as my beliefs go, I have been threatened with violence by Christians before so and I take such threats very seriously because I live in a very Christian area where nobody would come to my defense. I try my best to dismiss these claims but the lack of open dialogue means that it will be a long before I convince these people that pagans aren't dangerous.

I do not take personal offense to it, though, because I know they are wrong or misinformed and just looking to lash out at me.

I think it is ludacris. There is no basis for associating paganism and its many paths with satan. Satan is a christian entity. Also, to understand how it couldnt be satanic would require you to look at the actual belief structures of different paths.

I have found most paths to be ones of deep respect and love for nature/universe. I do not see how this could be a bad thing.

Sorry, to be completely honest I'm far too busy obeying Christ and Baha'u'llah by taking care of the broken-hearted to worry about someone else's fear-mongering and anti-scientific, literalist interpretations of symbolic scriptures.

Truthfully, If you want answers, then obey Christ by "feeding His sheep", "doing unto the least of these" and "love your fellow man".

Then you will understand what He was saying - and will stop worrying about having the "right" beliefs, because you will know that whatever is the question, love is the answer.

I think we Christians believe in not to judge others, so if some beliefs/practices are evil or not is up to God to judge.

Personally I think most of the beliefs/practices are interesting.
