Proverbs 13:19
It is pleasant to see dreams come true, but fools refuse to turn from evil to attain them.

And then it also said

Hope deffered makes a heart sick, but a dream come true is the tree of life.

that is somewhere in Proverbs also. Not sure exactly where. Sorry for what I said in the past. I was being a leagalist. ROFL. (embarrassed)

Ecclesiastes 5:7

[ESV]

For when dreams increase and words grow many, there is vanity; but God is the one you must fear.

[NAS]
For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather, fear God.

Nowhere in the bible does God say to 'follow your dreams' but to deny yourself and follow Him.

hold up, I don't understand thease forums. Iam guessing it's the person Iam talking to, and so it depends on who is online at the moment, but when I was saying that people shouldn't fallow their dreams, they all got mad at me and then when I tried to make up for it, people are still mad at me. And they still correct me. So Iam wrong now for fallowing my dreams? I think I quit comming here.

You need to be careful saying things that the bible does not say.
To say something like 'Even Joyce Meyers says that' is troubling.

You don't go to Joyce Meyer to see what God's word says. You go to the bible. Joyce Meyers is known for twisting scripture. Quoting scripture out of context to fit with a theme. In this case, dreams. You should actually go to the source (The bible) and see what she says and if it aligns with God's word.

I can assure you that following your dreams is no where in it but feel free to provide scripture if you think otherwise.

Yes, these are forums. Each person posts when they are online. So conversations are slow, and can last days or even weeks. Unlike chat where conversations happen instantly.

No one here is mad at you dear. They are just concerned about how you're using scripture. They only mean to help guide you in your understanding.

Proverbs are wise advice, but they aren't commands or promises of God. There is freedom in Christ, I agree with you, and through God we work towards goals and bring glory to God in our earthly work. But a relationship with God should be our number 1 goal. The Lord should be what fulfills our longings and gives us hope. In a way, the Lord should be our "dream".

That doesn't mean it's bad to have goals and ambitions, but those things can and will fail us. And sometimes what God wants for us in life will be different than our goals and our plans. Only God lasts, only Christ is the tree of life.

I dunno. Joyce Meyers seem to be saying God is like a genie. That you can have whatever you want with God's help. But Satan can trick people into believing he is God granting whatever we want and promising things that lead away from Him.

Scripture says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness all things shall be added unto you.
That means, follow Jesus, and he will give us all we dream of and more, for eternity.
Not follow our dream, and then ask God to help us attain it. I guess subtle difference, but first thing first. Don't put your dream above God. I found Meyers teaching christians to want everything on earth here right now, forgetting that our inheritance is in heaven.

It is fine to have dreams as long as they are within Messiah's will for our lives. The verse in Proverbs is not preaching a "prosperity gospel", but is simply saying that you have to work for your dreams to attain them.

I see other people putting down some other verses about dreams. It is always good to search the whole Bible on a topic.

Praying you will be hard working, and wise, in regard to your dreams.

When it comes to searching for Biblical meaning on something, I strongly suggest going through all of the Bible and looking at all it says on a specific topic. I cannot give an answer on following your dreams at this time, but maybe in the future when I have more knowledge on the matter I will be able to answer that.

thank you znr and those who agree with me. I said this to make up for what I said. However, I think Iam always wrong here. SO with that said, I think Iam leaving the forums. I don't need this place anymore and I don't think it needs me. Bye. I'm still a contortionist HAHA

I'm sorry to hear that dear. Christians will have disagreements... but what's important is that we forgive each other and agree & focus on the one thing that dose matter and unties us: God, His love, and His saving grace.

Whether you stay or go, just know you're welcome back anytime you need support :)
