Why is stroke regarded as masculine disease ,does brain have sex?
The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Where did you read that it is a masculine disease?
macular degeneration? Maybe that's what the OP heard and thought he/she heard mascular and so got masculine out of that??
Probably. Macular degeneration is a disease of the eyes as we age.. LOL
It also occurs without strokes as one ages. A lot has to do with emotions and stress that also produces strokes. But it is tied to strokes!!

Anyway!
Macular degeneration, stroke, and cardiovascular disease, including all circulatory disease, share risk factors and a similar pathogenesis, Dr. Joslin and colleagues note. They classified cause of death on the basis of hospital records and death certificates collected during AREDS and a search of the National Death Index after the study ended.
Brian Proctor, MD, from Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, Illinois, who was asked by Medscape Medical News to comment on the findings, noted that the shared etiology between stroke and death related to circulatory disease includes damage to blood vessels from smoking.
"This study shows what ophthalmologists have felt in our gut for a long time," he said. "People who smoke have a faster rate of macular degeneration than nonsmokers. For that reason, we advise our patients not to smoke and to control their blood pressure."
Macular degeneration has to do with the blood vessels in ones eyes...if the blood is not getting to those vessels then there are problems else where ....ie cardiovascular. Which stands to reason that those with macular degeneration are at a high risk for a stroke. QUOTE
EMOTIONS AND STRESS WILL AFFECT THE BODY INCLUDING THE EYES. AND MANY PARTS OF THE MIND AND BODY.
including HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE THAT WILL ALSO WILL AFFECT THE EYES.
It's good that I've found someone who can help me . But before dealing with the source of my claims , I need to ask you some questions . My eldest brother 55 was striked by stroke ,now a month . This made me developed interest in knowing the nature of this disease . But from my eyes observation since my childhood ive seen both young and old with the same problem . But I wasn't able to differentiate between stroke and celebralpuisy . So my question to you is can somebody be able to differentiate ? Another thing is they normally affect the left side of the body for I've never seen somebody affected on the right side do we agree on that . But one thing I can avoid to say is I've never, never seen any female victims , in fact I was wondering why . Can you explain something here please ?
Age-Related Macular Degeneration Doubles Heart Attack and Stroke Risk - ABC NewsPatients and physicians should recognize that patients diagnosed with AMD are more likely to have underlying cardiovascular disease and subsequent events and take appropriate steps to lower that risk though lifestyle changes and cardiovascular protective therapies," Fonarow advised.
Disease like fibroid I don't think one day a male can complain to a doc . Do we agree that some diseases are masculine while others are feminism ? Well, about stroke this is one of the sources I obtained such information.
