I wrote this study for a sermon I gave a few weeks ago. It pretty much tells you everything you need to know about angels. Now apologies, it's directed towards an adventist church so, there's an occasional mention of them in there. But nothing that should overly distract you.

I'd like to site Dr. William Lane craig's Defenders class - Doctrine of Angels for much of the information in the sermon.

You might find it useful so here you go.

These days we often hear allot about communicating with angels. People even make money apparently selling a chance to talk with these angels. But who exactly are they talking too?
We will return to this question later.

In Adventism we are much better informed than most of our Christian brethren about the very dangerous roots of this practice. But for anyone that’s not aware of the many problems with the modern and increasing popular practice of spiritualism, I would like to recommend Professor Walter Veith’s total onslaught series.

Whenever you hear of people writing books about talking with angels, or angels in their hair, or whatever, most often they are referring back to the woman who is responsible for the modern version of spiritualism.
All these modern books lean heavily on the works of a woman named Madam Blavatsky, who authored her books under the publishing company she created, called – “Lucifer’s trust.”
And that should tell us everything we need to know about the roots of this practice. Whenever someone tells you that there into talking with angels or they have an angel guide almost 100 percent of the time, the books that they are reading have their origins with Blavatsky.

Of course they want to tell you that they are sure their angel is good. They are sure that this angel is on the side of God. They may even tell you that they are Christian.
Now I’ve questioned people about this practice and most often the answer they give is that they don’t want to bother God with their problems. Maybe he’s too busy to deal with them.

This of course comes from a lack of understanding of scripture and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. For if they knew the all powerful creator of the universe described in the bible, they would soon realise.

That:-

A. The creator of this vast, complicated and amazing universe doesn’t lack the power to do anything.
B. That he’s never too busy
C. And that he has all the time in the world, quite literally...

Christ left us a way to contact God, this is through the medium of the Holy Spirit. Angels as we will see operate a strict don’t call us, we’ll call you policy.
All our prayers should go by the Holy Spirit to the Father in the name of Jesus. Any angel advising something else should be questioned.

One of the beautiful things about the Christian faith is that we know the person of Jesus Christ. We know his character through scripture and we experience him personally in our lives. We know that he would never ask us to do anything that would go against the Law of God and we know that he kept this law completely for us.

When we talk with the Holy Spirit, we communicate with one who has the same nature as Christ, one who has the same nature as the Father and One who is above all Holy.

But what of these angels. Now we know from scripture that angels exist. It is a biblical truth. But should we attempt to contact them?
What is the role of an angel?
Will you ever become an angel?
Who are they and what are they?

These are the question we will attempt to answer from scripture and in doing so, protect ourselves from any non biblical doctrines, which are very prominent in our society today.

So angels are of course mentioned in both the Old Testament and the new.

The Greek word for angel is angelos and in Hebrew it’s malak. Both these words translate to mean a messenger.

Angels are indeed both good and bad as we find out in
Mat 25:41 - “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

The passage seems to tell us that there are both good and bad angels and there is a devil a being of intense evil who has angels that serve him.

So what of the angels that serve God what exactly is there purpose?

We find a part of the answer in Hebrews 1:14
Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

So the angels then have a purpose as ministering spirits to those who God will choose to save.

The same word is mentioned in Jesus’s trial in the desert were after 40 days and nights the angels ministered to him. This word ministered to him is usually used in connection with something a servant might do at the table of his master.
We use the word minister these days, to mean what I am doing here. However it better described as something a servant does - bringing food and water. So the angels ministered to him.

Now although angels were often used to communicate God’s will there’s no reason why God cannot communicate directly to the world or through the prophets, but angels add an extra something to this communication as they are often used to manifest the very presence of God.

God is a spiritual being; we might thing about a spirit as a mind without a body. Yet when God wants to appear in this world often he does this through the presence of an angel.

God is pure spirit, we are both body and spirit and angels are like God pure spirit, only they are created creatures where as God is the ultimate eternal spirit. God has infinite power, intelligence, and exists eternally but angels are like God in the fact that they are spirit beings. However angels are created being, they have existed at least from the first moment of creation we know this as they glorified God as he brought the universe into creation.

Another purpose the angels serve is to glorify God. The scriptures tell us that God is surrounded by angels who worship him singing Holy Holy Holy is the Lord of hosts, indeed one of the names of God in scripture is the Lord of Hosts.

So angels purpose then is to minister to humans, to manifest God’s presence and to glorify God.

It may surprise you to know that the Law was delivered by angels.
In Acts 7:53
Who have received the law as delivered by angels, and have not kept it.

Or Galatians 3:19 - Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator.

Now we want to be very careful here. These days we have the scripture. We are to test everything including doctrines delivered by angels by the word of the scripture. However in the past it seems clear the Law was actually delivered to us by angels.

Speaking about Christ - Paul tells us in Col 1:15 that:-

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

As a part of the created things the angels have their purposes in Christ.

The angels are warriors of immense power.

And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. Revelation 12:7

We find out in
Daniel 7:10
That these hosts of angels are innumerable. That is to say that no human being could count them. Daniel struggles to list the size of this host when he tells us that:-
A stream of fire issued
and came out from before him;
a thousand thousands served him,
and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him;
the court sat in judgment,
and the books were opened.

And again in

Hebrews 12:22
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,

It seems then the number of these angels is vast beyond counting.

Also some of these angels seem to hold position over the other. So that there is a type of ranking system in place.

Daniel 10:13
But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.

The language being used here makes it clear that the king of Persia is not an earthly king but a spiritual being connected with Persia giving him some type of rank in power. Some of the translations even show this as the spirit prince of Persia.

The Catholic theologian Thomas Aquinas listed 9 different ranks of angels. And this is probably where the modern Catholic idea on ranks of angels comes from. You might even have heard of some of these. While there is some scriptural evidence for a few of these ranks. Allot of them are simply stretching the interpretation of the biblical text. And the names he gives to some of them like the virtues or the ophanim are simply created by Aquinas himself.

The scripture tells us not only that these angels are vast in number, but that they have enormous power.

Only two angels apart from Satan are specifically named in scripture. Michael and Gabriel. Jewish tradition gives the names of 7 archangels. However scripture itself only mentions these two in person. They are angels of vast power and importance. Gabriel tells us in Luke 1 :19

Then the angel said, "I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news!

Other scriptures indicate the power of these angelic creatures in

2 thes 7:1 - and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels

7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8

2 king 19:35 - And that night the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

So we can see that the angels are extremely powerful and that another purpose they serve is to execute God’s judgement upon the creation.

And lastly

Psalms 103:20 - Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.

So again we see here the reference to the power these being possess.

Another example of angels passing God’s justice is Acts 12:21-23
On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22 They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.”23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.

Or the seven angels of revelation pouring out the wrath of God upon the world.

Ok next angels in their normal form are invisible to the eyes. As spirits they cannot been seen unless they ordered to do so by God

We know from passages like Galatians 3:19
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

So are fight then is against this spiritual unseen realm, but let’s try to gain some comfort and take a look at.

2 kings 6:8-17

And let’s all have a look at this passage.

Now the king of Aram was warring against Israel; and he counseled with his servants saying, "In such and such a place shall be my camp." 9The man of God sent [word] to the king of Israel saying, "Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Arameans are coming down there." 10The king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God had told him; thus he warned him, so that he guarded himself there, more than once or twice.
11Now the heart of the king of Aram was enraged over this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, "Will you tell me which of us is for the king of Israel?" 12One of his servants said, "No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom." 13So he said, "Go and see where he is, that I may send and take him." And it was told him, saying, "Behold, he is in Dothan." 14He sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city.
15Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?" 16So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 17Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the LORD opened the servant's eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 18When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD and said, "Strike this people with blindness, I pray." So He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

So we see here both to the young man in the story and to the assiyrians the army that stood with Alisha could not been seen. The angels at least in their proper form are spiritual being which cannot be seen with the naked eye.
God had to grant the young man a spiritual vision, so that he could even see these creatures.
In their proper form they don’t have bodies and they are invisible to people. Which makes you think that our little church here may not be as empty as we might have thought.

Also these angels are not bound by physical space.

Acts 12:5-10

While Peter was kept in prison, the church prayed fervently to God for him.
6 The very night before Herod was going to bring him out, Peter, bound with two chains, was sleeping between two soldiers, while guards in front of the door were keeping watch over the prison. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He tapped Peter on the side and woke him, saying, ‘Get up quickly.’ And the chains fell off his wrists. 8 The angel said to him, ‘Fasten your belt and put on your sandals.’ He did so. Then he said to him, ‘Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.’ 9 Peter went out and followed him; he did not realize that what was happening with the angel’s help was real; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 After they had passed the first and the second guard, they came before the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went outside and walked along a lane, when suddenly the angel left him.

So we see here that these angels seem to have the ability to just appear at a point in space. Then simply disappear. Very much like the resurrection body Christ had when he appeared to the apostles. They are not bound by any physical objects but seem to be able to just appear at any point in the creation.
A handy trick if you’re ever locked out of the house.

I’ve been told that in Jewish tradition people told the difference between an angelic vision and an angelic appearance. And we see in the passage that even Peter himself was unsure. The test the Jews would use is to see if the food at their table had really been eaten after the angel had left.

Not only are these angels very powerful and able to move freely through creation but they are extremely wise.

2 samuel 14:20
in order to change the appearance of things your servant Joab has done this thing. But my lord is wise, like the wisdom of the angel of God, to know all that is in the earth.”

So we see the woman in the scripture here telling us that that these angels of God are extremely wise.

The next thing we learn about the angels from scripture is that they can take human form. Although their natural state is spiritual, a mind without a body. They can actually take the form of a human being.

This is the story of Samson’s mother just before his birth.
Judges 13:8-20
8 Then Manoah entreated the LORD and said, “O Lord, please let the man of God whom You have sent come to us again that he may teach us what to do for the boy who is to be born.”9 God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she was sitting in the field, but Manoah her husband was not with her. 10 So the woman ran quickly and told her husband, “Behold, the man who came the other day has appeared to me.” 11 Then Manoah arose and followed his wife, and when he came to the man he said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to the woman?” And he said, “I am.” 12 Manoah said, “Now when your words come to pass, what shall be the boy’s mode of life and his vocation?”13 So the angel of the LORD said to Manoah, “Let the woman pay attention to all that I said.14 She should not eat anything that comes from the vine nor drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; let her observe all that I commanded.”
15 Then Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, “Please let us detain you so that we may prepare a young goat for you.” 16 The angel of the LORD said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I will not eat your food, but if you prepare a burnt offering, then offer it to the LORD.” For Manoah did not know that he was the angel of the LORD. 17 Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, “What is your name, so that when your words come to pass, we may honor you?”18 But the angel of the LORD said to him, “Why do you ask my name, seeing it is wonderful?”19 So Manoah took the young goat with the grain offering and offered it on the rock to theLORD, and He performed wonders while Manoah and his wife looked on. 20 For it came about when the flame went up from the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell on their faces to the ground.

What we can learn from this passage is that Monoah had no idea who he was talking to. The Angel must have appeared to Monoah just like an ordinary human being.

Hebrews 13:1-2

Let love of the brethren continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without unawares.

And again here we see that the people have no way of knowing who the angels are and therefore must appear as ordinary human beings.

The book of revelation gives us some good examples of angels with wings and other features. However this could merely be symbolic. The angels wings or eyes, could be a reference for something else. For example the spirit with seven eyes in revelation. The Jewish number for completeness was seven.
So seven eyes could be to say complete sight. Or could see everything.

So maybe they have wings, but possibly not.

We know from our studies of revelation that these angels are not to be worshiped and I see so evidence from scripture that we should attempt to contact them. They are a separate type of creation different from human beings. You will not ever become an angel.

Psalms 8:4,5
You have made him (man) a little less than the angels..." ()

Angels seem to be connected to certain countries and linked to the destiny of these nations.

Daniel 10:13-20

But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.”
15 When he had spoken such words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless. 16 And suddenly, one having the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke, saying to him who stood before me, “My lord, because of the vision my sorrows have overwhelmed me, and I have retained no strength. 17 For how can this servant of my lord talk with you, my lord? As for me, no strength remains in me now, nor is any breath left in me.”
18 Then again, the one having the likeness of a man touched me and strengthened me.19 And he said, “O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you; be strong, yes, be strong!”
So when he spoke to me I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”
20 Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? And now I must return to fight with the prince of Persia; and when I have gone forth, indeed the prince of Greece will come.

In these passages it seems as if there are angels connected to at least 3 nations. The demonic angel connected with Persia and with Greece and also the angel connected to Daniel and Israel.

Luke chapter 22:41 – This is the story Jesus in the garden at Gethsemane. And
And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Now if you have one of the modern versions of the bible this passage may not appear in your translation. Or maybe on the footnotes. If your using a King James or something similar, the passage of course will be where it should be.

And I think this is a nice note to finish off on. I’d have loved to have done more. But I had to prepare quickly for this. It’s a fascinating topic of study I’d definitely recommend it as I found it very interesting.

Hopefully it gives us hope over the coming weeks to know that even though at times we may feel defeated by the world God sends these angels to us to strengthen us and fend off spiritual attacks against us.

Hopefully it makes us all think of the unseen spiritual realm all around us gives us to comfort to know that at our times of need God will send his angels to minister to us.
It’s a comfort to know they are there in some way serving our spiritual needs.
So I’ll finish with this
Psalms 91:10-11
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.

There is lots of literature out there dealing with angels. Just be careful and make sure it is God based.

Also, the best thing we can do for our children is to pray for them constantly. Bathe them in prayer.

In the '80's my brother was driving to the great lake area from the west coast. We didn't know where he was on this trip or if he had left. One night, my dad woke from a dead sleep and all he could think about was the safety of my brother and to pray, now.

When my brother returned home we got chatting. My dad brought this up as an aside to how he was thinking of my brother on his journey. It turns out, that at that time, that exact time, my brother was in a blizzard and went through an intersection on a highway. He tried to stop but ended up doing a 360 instead. As he passed through the intersection, an 18 wheeler did as well, at 90 degrees to him. He can't figure out how the semi missed him.

Prayer works.

Im recently born again and when I was at the very beginning of reading the Bible (exodus) outside on a park bench a man and his 2 sons sat down next to me and immediately starting asking me all sorts of questions regarding my walk with God and how the Bible helps me. He also went through his own personal experience, he asked what made me convert, he wanted to know many things and took a genuine interest on what I had to say.

He left me with a firm handshack and it was only a few weeks after that I began to think to myself If this man and his 2 sons where in fact angels sent from God.

I know it kind of seems a bit extreme to jump to that conclusion but the encounter left me thinking that it could have been. He just seemed to feel so encouraged by my transition. He gave me really good advice.

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, but it did make me think.

Im sure God still does send down angels amongst us to carry out his will and we may be encountering them without ever knowing.

I pray all the time for God to send his angels and look after my family and baby girl. Do you believe we can ask God for this? And has Christians do you think we get special protection by praying over the blood of Jesus? I do and I truly believe it.

I believe we do have guardian angels, I believe God sends them to guide and protect us. There are many stories of angels working in people's lives there are many books on this, not the spiritualistic ones but encounters people have had with angels which have changed their lives. I think that when our time comes to leave this earth our angels will escort us to the presence of God.

I have a couple angels that I talk with regularly. Bob and Peter. They have much cooler and far more fascinating names, but those are my nicknames for them.

I call mine Raymond. When I was searching for the names of the angels that name just popped into my mind.

Yes, we all have guardian angels. See Matt 18:10
Never pray to them, as they are also fellow servants of God. Do ask the Father to send them for protection, and yes, plead the Blood of Jesus for it is a mighty weapon. You will in Revelation that in the end times Christians overcame Satan and his demons through the Blood and their Testimony. Blessings

Oh totally! We all have angels who guide us, and even minister to us. I know I do!

Yes His Children can ask God for this. He has minions of Angels at His disposal for His Children.

Ps 91:9-16

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Yes Christians should use the blood of Jesus. Its very powerful. The Lord re-inforced this to me during prayer one day. Definitely!!! That is how we are saved and are kept. Its through the Blood, the Mighty blood of The Lamb! Its The Blood that washes us clean from all filth, Its the Blood that shields us!

I'm not too sure that every person has one specific angel that's stuck with them like glue, which is the traditional idea of 'guardian angel'- but I know without a shadow of a doubt that angels are active among us all the time.

As others have said, we don't pray to them, we don't 'command' them, as some rather new age ideas, (which have relegated angels to the status of little more than domestic pets or 'familiars'), seem to suggest. But we can certainly ask God to send them to protect us.

I was in a very nasty crash about 22 years ago. I still have some scars from that. I was the back seat passenger in a car with a young driver (younger than me) who was in a desperate hurry to get somewhere- and being rather reckless. At that time she had no rear seat belts, so I wasn't strapped in. She managed to get lost- and the anxiety of trying to find her way to somewhere she recognised and get back home for a phone call she was expecting, she was getting more careless. As we turned into one road, much faster than we should have been going, I felt the most overwhelming sense of danger and urge to pray like crazy. I silently prayed "Lord, protect us, spare our lives. Send your angels to guard us, please!"

About 10 seconds later, she picked up speed and a van ignored a 'stop' sign and came out of a side road. With the van failing to stop and the speed our driver was doing- we collided. I'd been sitting between the two front seats but found ,myself thrown sideways. I hit my face against the back of the seat in front and my shin hit the bottom bar of the seat in front. I walked out of that car.

The police later said that they simply couldn't believe that any of us could physically open the doors to get out- as the car was so smashed up they found it physically impossible to open the doors. They also told us that it was 'a miracle' I even survived, let alone stood and walked away from the car. Apparently where I was sitting, the fact that I wasn't strapped in and the sheer velocity and violence of the impact meant that I should have gone straight thorugh the windscreen and landed in front of the car- very likely being run over by it, as it carried for a quite a distance before it was stopped by crashing into a stationary vehicle nearby.

Then, at the hospital, they x-rayed me and I was told that from what they'd been told about the crash and the impact of my face on the seat- I should have had almost all the bones in the left side of my face smashed. I left the hospital with a black eye and some swelling- but not one bone even chipped- and a swollen bruise on my shin, which still has a bit of a scar- but that's it. You can see a hint of the accident if you know where to look on my face- but you'd have to be shown and peer closely.

I am convinced that the Holy Spirit put that sense of danger and urge to pray into my heart. I believe he gave me the right thing to pray for- and I believe that God sent an angel to save us. I believe that that angel directly intervened, making sure I went one way rather than where sheer physics said I should have gone and that somehow the angel 'cushioned' me against having my face smashed in! (The driver wasn't injured at all, other than a bruise to her leg- and the front seat passenger wore a collar for whiplash for one day- then was perfectly ok).

There have been several other incidents in my life where I'm sure God sent an angel to intervene. I'm pretty sure that in heaven, when the duty rota is posted, some poor angel reads the list to see who he's got and sighs heavily.
"What's up?" His heavenly colleagues ask.
"I've got Angelfrog" he says.
He's patted on the back "Oh, tough break!" they say- and hand him a box. "You'll need these".
As they leave, he starts putting on items from the box...a helmet, shin pads....

Yes, angels do watch and intervene in people's lives.
Balaam also had an angel that was about to kill Balaam and the donkey Balaam was riding saw the angel.
Angels may carry out God's judgements.

An angel stood by Paul during the storm on the sea and told Paul what would happen, that all would survive but the ship lost. Paul then tells the soldiers to spare all the slaves as they were going to kill them to keep them from escaping. So the angel gave Paul an message of encouragement to life and the purpose of God to Paul then told the people what he had been told.

22 And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. 23 For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve,

24 saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ 25 Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. 26 However, we must run aground on a certain island.”

42 And the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim away and escape. 43 But the centurion, wanting to save Paul, kept them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should jump overboard first and get to land, 44 and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land.

Notice the angel said that God 'granted' that all those with Paul would survive.
Notice also a direct intervention by God regarding this centurian to save Paul alive to fulfill God's words.
So God intervenes into the affairs of men to fulfil His words that He has spoken. And the message was delivered by an angel.

Angels intervene according to the divine purpose, the plan and knowledge of God for His people.

I do believe we have guardian angels and we can pray for protection in the name of JESUS the son of GOD. It is appropriate for us to ask for help, but we do not always understand what form that help will come in.

I am positive that we are watched over, but that method is better left for the grace of GOD and his son lord JESUS CHRIST.

Praise be to GOD the heavenly father and his son lord JESUS CHRIST forever>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I KNOW that God uses His angels to minister to and protect us. However, do we each have a special, individual angel? I don't think so, but won't say for sure... that's for God to know and me to find out once I'm in Heaven :)

I wonder how scary it would be to have knowledge of a time an angel protected you, where you otherwise wouldn't have known.

Like...if I found out that I could have died coming home from church tonight had an angel not intervened, I would absolutely panicking.

Just a thought.
