I am looking for a Christian college that offers a certificate program in children and youth ministry. I want to take Biblical courses as well like Old Testement and New Testement survey, etc. I have considered Tennessee temple university and lee university, but they only offer bachelor's degrees. I just want to be able to work in children and youth ministry, so I don't feel I need a full degree just a certificate. I don't want to have to take all of the non-Biblical and non-ministry courses a full degree requires. (I don't want to have to take algebra, literatire, psychology, etc. that I won't seem to need to work with children and youth in a church or maybe someday start my own children/youth ministry). I just want tofocus on children and youth ministry along with general Biblical courses. I can not seem to find an accredited school that offers a certificate in children and youth ministry. I do want it to be all online as well. Any suggestions?

Well I do realize this is not what you're looking for because it IS a 4 year bachelor's degree... but I can't turn down to the opportunity to highly recommend the school I attend, Moody Bible Institute!

We have degree's in both children and youth ministry, in addition to this, everyone also majors in biblical and theological studies. Every student takes their major courses, as well as many core theology, Bible, and ministry courses.

There are two reasons I bring up Moody even though it offers bachelor's degrees and not associate degrees. The first is that the general education requirements for Moody are humorously small... and can be transferred quite easily or, for the most part, tested out of (foreign language, math, science, I know for certain can be tested out of). Psychology will still be a requirement, but that's a fairly applicable class for children/youth ministry anyways?

The second reason I still recommend Moody is because it is.... tuition paid. Every student who is accepted into Moody's Chicago campus had their tuition paid for. The remaining expenses are still a fair amount (around 11k a year for food, housing, student feeds, etc.), but it is still going to end up being faaaar cheaper from any comparable program.

Moody is also very intentional about training their students for ministry! We are situated in the heart of downtown Chicago where ministry opportunities abound! All students are actually required to participate in a weekly ministry their entire stay at Moody. It is an amazing testing ground for trying out different ministries that you would never have a chance to try out in other ways (for example, I do outreach to male prostitutes, not exactly what I would have expected coming into Moody!).

But of course if you're fairly set on getting an associate's degree I wish you the best of luck! Just thought I'd throw out Moody! If you are interested or have any questions please feel free to ask me! (My email is zach9592@gmail.com, I've rarely been on CF in a while so that's a better way to reach me) And if you DO decide to shoot for Moody, please talk to me about the admissions process! The admissions department is notoriously.... err.... unreliable.... at getting back to people timely with helpful information. I know their admissions policies inside and out and have walked several of my friends through it already.
