There comes a point when that starts becoming irrational, and we're well past that point.

Actually it's usually liberals deliberately taking what conservatives say completely out of context, sometimes even creatively editting audio tapes (as we saw with MSNBC or NBC's creative editting to make Zimmerman look like a racist), etc. while Democrats can make whatever racist comments they like and get a pass.

The mistake Republicans make is that they don't stand up and call out the left-wing partisan hacks on their inappropriate spamming of the race card.

You mean Zimmerman, the white Hispanic?

I agree that MSNBC has no credibility after doing that. That's why I almost never watch it.

But tell, me what "context" makes this ok?

Really? Cause it seems Republicans scream about others "playing the race card" on a fairly regular basis, usually after they or their colleagues say something racist.

So comparing Bush to a monkey is okay, but comparing Obama to a monkey is racist... That's kinda a double standard don't you think, TheYoungTurk?

As I said, people need to stop obsessing over skin color, that sign was bashing Obama for insane spending and his policies, they weren't attacking him due to his race.

You do understand that in our nation's history blacks were called monkeys and gorillas by racist whites due to the African descent of the black. So yeah, calling a black person a monkey and a white person a monkey are two different things. The same way calling a man the c-word, and a woman the c-word are two different things. And George was called Curious George because of his name.

As I said, people need to stop obsessing over skin color, that sign was bashing Obama for insane spending and his policies, they weren't attacking him due to his race.

(If there any are Republican politicians out there looking at this conservation, the quoted statement by Garfield is why you can't get black people to vote for you.
1. Conservative A says something obviously racist.
2. Liberal A brings it up.
3. Conservative B completely ignores it.
4. Black people see it, and think, "wow, I wonder why the GOP/conservatives ignore these racial sentiments made by their own. I guess the GOP doesn't like black people. I guess I shouldn't vote for them."
5. Democrats get 90+ percent of the black vote.
6. Conservatives whine that blacks are lazy and that's why they vote Democrat.
7. Blacks see 6 and think conservatives are either are either in denial as a defense mechanism or have suffered brain trauma from walking into doors one too many times.
8. Rinse and repeat.

Okay then Garfield, what's your excuse for why this one isn't racist? I kinda want to make a game out of this.:D

You're not helping your argument.

You mean aside from the left wing media and democrats accusing everyone that doesn't support their leftist agenda of being racist...

1. Conservative A says something obviously racist.

Or the more common Conservative A gets quoted completely out-of-context or deliberately misquoted in order to try to scare them into shutting up and letting Democrats win a debate by default...

2. Liberal A brings it up.

Or more commonly tries to make a mountain out of an anthill...

3. Conservative B completely ignores it.

Considering I've been called racist by liberals simply because I'm critical of Obama's policies, I know from personal experience that liberals often falsely accuse people of racism to try to shut down criticism.

4. Black people see it, and think, "wow, I wonder why the GOP/conservatives ignore these racial sentiments made by their own. I guess the GOP doesn't like black people. I guess I shouldn't vote for them."
5. Democrats get 90+ percent of the black vote.

Actually, I'm going to say it's because they've been brainwashed into thinking Republicans hate them and only big government can help them succeed or survive in life, because everything is so stacked against them. That's why liberals hate people like Herman Cain, Dr. Ben Carson, Justice Clarence Thomas, etc., because they went off the plantation.

I'd argue that the reason why the schools are so bad in the inner cities is possibly deliberate, so that they can't realize how they are being used, I don't blame African Americans, I blame Democrats that control those cities as well as leftist teachers that indoctrinate people rather than teaching people to think for themselves.

6. Conservatives whine that blacks are lazy and that's why they vote Democrat.
7. Blacks see 6 and think conservatives are either are either in denial as a defense mechanism or have suffered brain trauma from walking into doors one too many times.
8. Rinse and repeat.

And I see people that have been so indoctrinated to the idea that they can't succeed because everything is too stacked against them, so they have given up even trying. I don't blame African Americans for their situation, I am of the mindset that they are victims of a massive con job to get a large number of votes.

That you need to lighten up and stop obsessing over race. What we essentially have here is nothing more than conducting a play on words to call Obama a liar, that doesn't mean the sign is racist nor does it mean the creator of the sign is racist...

Now if the person was in a KKK outfit, then you'd have a point, but it looks like you're overreacting putting it mildly.

The argument is fine. Not my fault if you can't see it. Some insults are race and gender specific.

You mean aside from the left wing media and democrats accusing everyone that doesn't support their leftist agenda of being racist...

Oh please tell me of our "leftist agenda."

Or the more common Conservative A gets quoted completely out-of-context or deliberately misquoted in order to try to scare them into shutting up and letting Democrats win a debate by default...

So "Monkey see; monkey spend" is out of context?

Or more commonly tries to make a mountain out of an anthill...

Nope, just bringing conservative stupidity into the light.

And I know from personal experience that conservative play the "race card" card every time a liberal brings up race and its effects.

Actually, I'm going to say it's because they've been brainwashed into thinking Republicans hate them and only big government can help them succeed or survive in life, because everything is so stacked against them.

We think things are stacked against us yes, but we haven't been brainwashed. Republicans and conservatives say stupid crap about everyone who isn't a white male Christian and you IGNORE it. The sign is a perfectly example. "What? The boy just called Obama a monkey, what's racist about that?"

Are you kidding me? YOU'VE been brainwashed. You've been brainwashed into thinking that there is no racist sentiment in the Republican party at all. And when I throw facts in your face you simply brush them aside.

That's why liberals hate people like Herman Cain, Dr. Ben Carson, Justice Clarence Thomas, etc., because they went off the plantation.

I don't know about Thomas but Cain and Carson being religious social conservatives probably has a lot more to do with why we don't like them. Liberals also hated people like Santorum and Bachmann.

By the way, saying that black liberals are "on the plantation," that's not gonna help.

I'd argue that the reason why the schools are so bad in the inner cities is possibly deliberate, so that they can't realize how they are being used, I don't blame African Americans, I blame Democrats that control those cities as well as leftist teachers that indoctrinate people rather than teaching people to think for themselves.

I'd argue that you'd better have some proof for that.

And I see people that have been so indoctrinated to the idea that they can't succeed because everything is too stacked against them, so they have given up even trying. I don't blame African Americans for their situation, I am of the mindset that they are victims of a massive con job to get a large number of votes.

His arguments are terrible and the usual fare.

1. "Democrats were racists in the past." Which has nothing to do with liberals, or the Republican and Democratic party as it is today. Both were radically different from their modern counterparts and I'm sick of having to remind people of that.

2. "Liberals only care about control." Stupid Republican talking point with zero proof.

3. "Welfare was always designed to control people." Too bad he couldn't provide any proof. I'm sorry people occasionally need foodstamps when looking for work or when the economy is bad. We should just let them starve. That's what Lincoln would've wanted right?

That you need to lighten up and stop obsessing over race. What we essentially have here is nothing more than conducting a play on words to call Obama a liar, that doesn't mean the sign is racist nor does it mean the creator of the sign is racist...

The sign accuses Obama of being born in Africa.

Believing that somehow a person is trying to hold them down simply because they are white is actually a form of racism.

Accusing people of hating black people simply because they are against Obama's policies can actually be a form of racism directed towards white people.

Considering Republicans also have been constantly targetted by the race card by Democrats (whom use it as a political weapon to shut down debate), it's rather understandable that Republicans have a very cynical view concerning this issue.
And I see what side of the line you fall on. Color me surprised.

100% of Republicans think water is wet. So which party is anti science now?

Yes, but, I really do think we will eventually get over this particularly infantile fixation on cosmetic difference we call race.

Race is far more than skin color, especially in the United States. There is a gigantic difference in the culture, heritage, religion, etc. It is very important to recognize race and ethnicity in our times.

Very true. Virtually everyone in the United States can pick out an African American on the phone with alarming accuracy. This is not a physical difference. It is a cultural difference. It is as if blacks and whites live/lived in totally different countries. Until recently, virtually every minute of every day was spent doing segregated activities. And although that has changed for how life is outside the home, it hasn't changed much for how life is in the inside of the home.

I live on the West Side of Chicago. There is only one ethnicity that cusses at me when I'm in my car or gives me the finger while calling me a white B***H or punches me on the train or pushes me into bushes or takes up the side walk when I'm walking toward them or throws things at me. And it's because I'm white. I don't do anything. I just live in one of those neighborhoods where white people should not be by themselves at night for exactly the reasons that I mentioned. People hate me because I am white.

Yes. Racism is alive and doing well.

They do that to black people, too.

Dude, I used to live on the west side of Chicago. I rode the El virtually everyday. I am as white as it gets. And I was never punched, pushed, or called names.

I don't believe you. Perhaps your neighborhood isn't safe at night. But you are almost certainly wrong if you think it is only unsafe for whites.

Is this supposed to be funny?
No, it's a commentary on the destruction of family life ... which family life is where children learn the values and responsibilities needed to become contributing members of society.

News accounts indicate that this has become a particularly serious problem among the black population.
