I am not a real convert. I have had numerous experiences of false conversions and after one or two weeks of seeming victory against sin being completely either unwilling or unable to give up something. Few days ago, perhaps even a week, I realized that my mind started focusing on earthly stuff and long story short, I can't give up on cake right now. I am at the end of myself. I hope. I'm asking God to save me even as only through fire because at this point that's the only way it is possible.

What do I do now? How do you approach God and make sure your prayer is heard?

It's not my intention to whine so I apologize if this sounds like it. Also, one more question. How do I know my eating of cake is a sin (focusing on the flesh in other words) or not?

How often do you eat cake? Like evey day?

Cake isn't inherently "evil", anymore than alcohol is. It's fine to eat in moderation. Heck I've seen my church's head pastor eat a couple pieces at a party - pretty sure he had a beer too. So I'm not sure why you're feeling so guilty over this?

Cake isn't the point here. It's just a small example I wanted to use to illustrate something. I know I'm guilty of being earthly minded and the Bible says that mind set on the flesh is death. Internet has this inconsistency because personal contact with people is obviously different but I can't bother people at Church so I ask here.

How do I approach God now and make sure my prayer is heard?

If you have ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life and repented of your sins, you can be assured your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life - we all fall short, but God does not erase our name, we just repent and move on.

The Bible tells us that if you ask for a fish, God does not give you a snake (or something like that) but it means have faith that God hears your prayers because He tells us He does. When you feel like you have fallen, turn back to Jesus quickly, ask for forgiveness and just know that Jesus is by your side. The Bible tell sus that Jesus is closer than your shadow and only a heartbeat away and He is your friend, talk to Him like a friend. Just stay close to Him and your faith will grow. He hears your prayers.

There's something missing in this account, for we do not convert to being sinless or angelic but to being a disciple of Christ, which means the intention to follow the Savior and trust in him. If you never slipped up, you wouldn't be a genuine believer; you'd be a superhuman.

How do you view asking us questions as being so different?

I'm a real person, although unknown to you personally, I
have stuff going on in my life but I like others on here, set aside time to
help out on this forum.

As for God hearing our prayers, He hears the voice of his child who
repents.
We who sought the Lord for salvation are saved not because we work so hard
at doing good it is because we have put our trust in Christ, we have his righteousness
imparted to us. In our own strength we can't accomplish much.
We are to fully rely on the Lord and follow Him...this "following" the Lord
brings us into godliness.

If we fall short/miss the mark, IE...sin, we are to repent of that sin
and get back to relying on the Lord and "following Him".

I view it differently because in my experience there are less repercussions in being ignored online or liked online than in personal contact with people. You are right in that if we sin, we are to repent and move on. Or repent and start in the first place. Thanks for taking time.

I use to belong to another forum and there was a whole continuous thread
about being wronged/hurt online and how folks were continuing to feel
the loss or hurt from an online friend or relationship and the hurt experienced
from being ignored or slighted online.
Many said it was just like being hurt in person... interesting
to come across someone who doesn't hold that opinion.

Actually being online has helped me - people say things on line that they would not say face to face. At first it really hurt and I would pull back and stop posting for awhile, but now I can take it - if you really want to learn to take it - get in the political forum LOL - I've pulled back from there for awhile - still have to take that in spurts. Words don't have a way of lightening the impact, but it does help toughen us up.

You start relying on your Father in heaven to save you through the sacrifice of Christ, instead of relying on your ability to impress Him with your own sacrifice.

No matter how much you give up, you won't give up more than Jesus did. So quit trying.

Take a deep breath and lean back in His love. Trust Him. And then watch yourself become trustworthy just as He is. Watch yourself become a living sacrifice for others, just as His son is.

Get out of the way and watch Him work. :)

I still think some specific examples would help us give you better advice.
(besides cake)

There are no other examples I can think of. Only that one feels like thorns around my heart sometimes. I discovered that those thorns are actually desires that may be in the way of my coming to the Kingdom.
