Hahaha - they're pretty good, actually. This place specialises in people like me, so they're nice to us - I see them a minimum of three times a week, I have standard appointments every week. It hurts, but since I have chronic pain it's actually not a bad thing because I can take high pain levels and it feels SO GOOD when it stops. Like hitting your head against a wall I suppose... but more productive :)

lol :D I know what you mean. I wish we had a clinic and program here like that. Hopefully, I'll be in a position to have more treatment options later this year.

I have recently entered the world of chronic pain myself. Am hoping that something will stop it eventually. I am going to a Pain Clinic.

Just got back from Vacation with my brothers and friends. My countenance is crispy and delightful as like unto a lobster. Just added lemon juice, oregano, basil, and bit o' fresh organic melted butter . . .

I'm sooo so lucky. I've been ill for five years now, and I only found this place (through sheer providence!) a year ago. The head physio there is a gem and an expert on chronic pain as well as treating fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue/ME. I love her to pieces. I have manipulative therapy twice a week, a massage to unknot my muscles and nerves (my nerves like to stick themselves to 'on', and then the muscles tense around them, and everything goes stupid), and a pilates class once a week which I love - between that and whole body vibration therapy (which I also do there) I actually have muscles in my body that can hold my back up again - I had no core strength at all after four years in bed. I still spend a lot of time in bed, but now I can be up for longer because it's less tiring :) They have the pilates classes really small, taught by a physio who is trained in this stuff too, and they adapt everything for everyone based on their physical condition. It's great. And I see the head physio every few weeks to sort out the 'life' stuff. She and my doctor who looks after the medical side of things are friends too (thankyou God for these Thy gifts!) and they send me notes for each other suggesting/requesting treatment - like she'll send me to him with a request for blood tests for a certain vitamin or something, and he'll send me with 'fix this bit of her spine, please'. It works! :D

I know she takes clients via skype, so if you're interested let me know, she could give you advice and guidance for a physiotherapist there maybe?

I have recently entered the world of chronic pain myself. Am hoping that something will stop it eventually. I am going to a Pain Clinic.

I hope it stops soon *hug* The only advice I can give is to try and rest if possible, and use painkillers sparingly. I know that seems crazy, but if you only use it when it's really really bad, you don't get acclimatised to it and need more and more of the same stuff or to go up a 'grade' in painkillers. I have chronic pain at an average of a normal person's 6/10 and have had for five years and I manage to live more or less painkiller free, so it is possible. I didn't say it's easy though! BUT, it does get better - your body will eventually adjust to it. I think the first six months were the hardest for me, after that I'd learned and adjusted enough to live with it alright.

Oh, and the Jesus prayer helps, a lot! Say the prayer slowly, while breathing slowly and deeply, and it will soothe you in more than just your breathing :)

Interesting, I'll think about it. I'm glad you have this support. It's so very important in maintaining / improving health in regard to these illnesses. I was doing physio. with massage, a bit of cardio. and hot water. It was helping but I've had a lot of paper work etc. that needed to be done and it took it's toll. I have to be able to pace myself and have balance. Now I'm working back to my usual routine and that balance again. Pacing is so very necessary.

I agree with what you say. I don't take addictive meds. They can be helpful at times but for myself I'm focusing on treatments that maintain / improve my health rather that just mask the pain. It's important I focus on other treatments besides meds because I can get rather severe side effects to meds. The thing with these illnesses is that there are similar symptoms but each person responds to various treatments differently. Each person needs to do what works for them. :)

I enjoy going to physical therapy. Sometimes I fall asleep while they are kneading the muscles in my back. And they do the Epley maneuver which really helps to relieve the vertigo.

Have they ever done the Epley maneuver on you?

When I visited my doctor and a hand surgeon, they both informed me that I had to have injections of steroids or face surgery (most of my fingers are involved).

I heard that magnets can work, ordered some online, and now, I am set free, praise the Lord. My fingers are improving daily.

Aww, sorry to hear you're ill. It's never easy. I've heard that magnets help. I'm glad you're doing better. They say different types of pain need to be treated differently.

I've heard that amber helps, too. I'm thinking about getting an amber necklace to see what happens - if you wear it next to your skin it's supposed to have a natural compound in it that acts as a painkiller working with the body, it's why amber necklaces are put on teething babies.

Interesting. Maybe that is why I am attracted to amber. :)
I do love looking at semiprecious and precious gems.
God has indeed created a beautiful world.

Now I get to curl up with my books for the evening - Elder Paisios of Mt Athos, a gardening book A-Z of basically everything that will grow where I live, the Psalter for Prayer that just got published recently (it is so, so beautiful and my nameday present to myself) and Fr Lawrence Farley's commentary on St Mark's Gospel.

Happy Kyri the Ortho-geek!

:D I saw this smiley tonight and thought about you. :)
