I attended a funeral for a priest over the weekend and was asked to sing with the choir. I accepted and found that the "Choir" consisted of two little nuns who were very patient with me and helpful with leading me through the service.

At this point I should say that I have heard of holy people within Orthodoxy radiating warmth in the winter and such, but I guess I never thought about what that might be like to experience.

Anyway the church was large and there were many people present, but there was plenty of room to move around and we weren't all packed closely together or anything like that. I noticed during the service that my right side was a lot warmer than my left side and was looking around to see if I was standing near a heating vent and I couldn't see one, until I realized that it was actually the nun a few feet to my right that was radiating this warmth. I took a few steps toward her and was significantly warmed up. Couple steps away and was colder again. It was a very strange thing. We've all been around other people who are warm, and getting close to them makes us warm, but this wasn't like that. It was like she was actively radiating warmth in a way that I don't think is possible for a normal human being with a normal metabolism. I thought "she must be sweltering" but she wasn't sweating a drop.

Anyway I don't know if this nun has a metabolic condition that causes her temperature to be much higher than normal or if I just experienced the warmth that radiates from a very holy person. Thought I would share it either way :)

Whoa... I thought it was another blast from the past seeing Matrona but I see you are from the UK and new so... welcome:)

btw, to the OP, that is great. thanks for sharing.

Oh, did not you see her thread? She is our beloved Matrona from 2003, and one of TAW's founders.
It is good to have her back.
