You complain about Protestants being their own "popes" or infallable authorities, while you judge Orthodox Bishops for violating your personal interpretation of "Holy Tradition".

Oh, snap!

Seen this one!

Or perhaps you want everyone to refer to you only by your chrismation name?

(Actually, I've noticed that most people around me don't seem to be called by anything other than their given name in communion, or whatever...I heard that "This is the name by which you will be called during communion, and will be prayed for..." but it seems I'm the only one going by an unusual, 1st Century name...)

Do I have convertitis? Oh no! And my beard hasn't even grown out yet!!

A priest is supposed to be called by your chrismation name in the context of any sacrament. Most people's chrismation name is there given name and vice-versa. But, as you know, that's not so for our family. Our priest (who is not a convert nor does he do many convertitis-y things) always refers to us by our chrismation names in communion and confession, during our sons' baptisms and our chrismations (of course). And when I become metropolitan of the jusrisdiction that will fix all non-canonical jurisdictional problems in North America, they will once again refer to me by my Chrismation name.

Uh-oh. I get called by my Chrismation name by people from church all the time, and introduce myself by it when meeting new people at church. My priest almost always calls me by it and it's sort of spread from there. My girlfriend and I call each other by shortened versions of our Chrismation names...

But I had the magnificence that is my beard before I converted!

I think that's pretty cool if it works out organically and non-forced. Use of a new name can be a pretty strong symbol for some.

Also, if you were ordained, your chrismation name would be what everyone would call you at Church, at least technically.

I think on Monday you should go to work and insist your boss call you Ignatius.

In fact in Spain if your name is Ignacio they can call you ñaki or nacho for short. Which one do you prefer?

... when you're having an espresso with soy milk, vegetable-based whipped cream, dark chocolate sprinkles and an egg-free cookie while debating whether the bishop is a greater failure as a pastor or a human being.

LOL, that's a good one. :)

I really like Maximos the Confessor. That would be really cool if I do go through with this to be called Maximos. Sounds awesome. I could just go by Max or Mad Max :p

After only six months of conversion you look like the president of the North American chapter of the ZZ Top Fan Club and like to come on TAW talking about vampires, beer, and baklava even though you don't drink and don't know what baklava tastes like! LOL....

:D Fun thread. Are there any non converts to Orthodoxy ... meaning cradles, or am I the only one? :D

Well, I could say I came back, repented, or "converted" in my mid 20s. :)
