This is me

I've just joined this forum this evening so I thought it would be polite to tell you something about me......

I live in the UK (England to be more precise - north east of Manchester)

I'm the wrong side of 50 (take that whichever way you want)

I guess that I thought that I was a Christian since about the age of 7, but I now realise that I really only became a Christian at the age of 31 and that was 22 year ago (there you go - you now know how old I am).

Christian and church related matters sem to take up most of the time that I'm not in employment, but when I do have free time I tend to spend it on the computer/internet.

I also have interests in music - Beach Boys (see I told you I was the wrong side of 50), Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, Supertramp, Lightening Seeds, The Eagles to name but a few. In the Christian music area I like worship music and particulary the offereings from TACF and Robin Mark. I also have like Messianic music - but that's a long story...

Other passive interests include photography, philately (get out the dictionaries) and railways.

I'm what you might call an evangelical charismatic or if you prefer - a charismatic evangelical, I don't mind

Hello and Welcome, Martin! I, too, have enjoyed reading your posts and thought your posts were intriquing and intelligent.
I must admit as well, on a side note, that it crossed my mind that you, being from the UK, and your name being Martin, that you were perhaps the lead singer from Deleriou5 (Martin Smith), going incognito (sp?).

I don't suppose that's the case, but it did cross my mind!
Anyways, famous or not, I look forward to getting to know you better and reviewing more of your posts!

Could you tell be about Messianic music?

Is that the music that sounds Jewish?

My spirit gets so excited when I hear Jewish music. Unfortunately, I don't know where to get any.

Terri, you love Jewish music, have you ever heard of the band Lamb.They are amazing, a pair of fellows from the sixties or seventies who are of Jewish descent, they write traditional hebrew into their amazing vocal and musical harmonies... they released a ton of amazing records... (those round things cool restaurants have hanging on the walls

Thanks for the welcome.....

Firstly, Messianic music has a "Jewish" sound to it but focuses on Jesus (Yeshua) in the words. In most songs the words have a depth and bredth to them that moves my spirit and I find draws me closer to God.

Barry and Batya Segal are a couple of Messianic Jews that produce a lot of music and are good to listen to. I don't know about the USA, but when I was out in Israel I was surpised to find that a lot of the music was published by Kingsway Music in Eastbourne (UK). They have a web site at http://www.kingsway.co.uk I haven't been there recently, but they might be able to help...

As for Martin Smith - well, no - I'm afraid that I can't lay claim to his gift for music.... ah well!
