This is the first week I've watched (some on video after the show was over.)
A few stand out but there's no one I'm absolutely drawn to. In looking at their biographies I saw that most of them had never had any vocal training. They didn't even mention anything like church or school choirs.
More and more it seems like the judges are looking for a whole lotta "whoa, whoa, whoa's" with a little bit of rasp, and even their favorite female contestants are pretty much singing in the tenor range.
I really loved contestants with some real training and some real vocal chops--Sayesha several years ago, Melinda Doolittle....
They were perfecting their craft while still being able to deliver the requisite number of "whoa, whoa, whoa's" to please those who need some stumbling in between the lyrics...
My hubby likes Katie Stevens, but I wasn't that impressed with the song I heard.
