Anyway, I do not remain fixated with a fear of deceptive supernatural phenomena - provided it is God I am speaking to - because of this promise:

Luke 11:11-13

11 “You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? 12 Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! 13 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”[/quote]

:amen: Seek not the gift, but the giver of gifts. I did not receive tongues because sought the gift. I received that gift because I asked the Father for it through Jesus Christ and He is faithful to His word. I asked for tongues through His Holy Spirit, which had me sing the verse, "Lord Jesus teach my soul to pray," as confirmation when the time arose for me to receive it. Thank God for some pastors who have walked this walk for a whole lot more time than me. They are obedient vessels for us to receive what we need from the Father. Be blessed.

If you follow Jesus Christ and dont see signs and wonders, then you must wonder if its the same Jesus from the bible that you are following. Because read any of the gospels and see how much of the supernatural there was in Jesus' ministry.

:)

Yes. Let's not forget what Mark 16:17-18 says. Not to mention the church in the book of Acts. So many people, in one day, got saved after Peter preached.

And yes, the OP is right in that the kingdom of God is within us (Romans 14:17). And because of that, signs and wonders will follow.

Then, what would we say of signs and wonders following a reprobate. I would rather have righteousness and holiness than lying wonders anytime. Yes, we need His power to be witnesses to Jesus Christ, not us!

Yes, but we are given the Holy Spirit to know the difference between a reprobate, and the true miracle worker, who is God.

If you have the gospel preached without signs following, then you have no gospel at all.

My life is a sign that the gospel was preached. I am begotten of the word of God. It is that power of God that breaks every yoke. What my flesh could not do, His word, His Spirit has done. Our testimony is the Spirit of prophecy. False witnesses in time will be put to open shame. Praise the Lord! With that said, why would I seek another.

An honest question - related to the general thrust of your argument and the verses you have selected: Do you believe we should automatically be suspicious of another Christian walking in/experiencing signs and wonders - (I mean supernatural wonders here, not 'natural' miracles like the sun shining through the clouds as cited by you earlier) - but not suspicious of one who does not walk in, believe in, or experience such things?

People will be suspicious, or paranoid when they are suspicious and paranoid. I have not always walked with miraculous signs as these. I would rather be suspicious of a person walking in miracles and not exhibiting good fruit. I will ask you this: Does the world like us? Just the other day I spoke in tongues in my dad's face, and he punched me. We are getting along better now, thank God, but the world still does not like me being a child of God. I find it a pleasure to receive stripes for the Lord Jesus Christ. If the devil is in my face, he should be under my feet. But, if I am getting attacked, it must be for a good reason. Do I love my dad? Yes. Did I forgive him. Duh, yes. It was also a time for the Holy Spirit to speak through me. If a punch in the face from my dad saves his life, then it is well worth it. I am sure I could suffer much more. I know that I will suffer persecution because I will not bow to false prophets, false miracle workers, and the like. Being a Christian is not about becoming rich. It is about being content with what we have and gaining the spiritual riches. We are to learn to be content whether we are abased or abound.

This thread is not about arguing. It is about whether we follow Jesus Christ or a false Christ. What is the reason you came in here? To see a miracle as an adulterous generation seeks a sign? The word says, "Do not go." If He is in our heart, we do not need to go see Him in the desert or in the inner rooms.

I don't want to pry, but since you put it out there I'm curious. Is your dad a believer, and why did you speak in tongues in his face?

About the signs and wonder thing... do I follow after them? Absolutely not. Do I love to see God move in miraculous ways? Oh Yea! But I'm a little unlearned, perhaps. I thought that S&W were given to lead unbelievers to Christ? I personally have not met one person who claimed to come to Jesus because they saw a leg grow, or gold dust fall, or someone raised from the dead. But I know of more than a few christians who have claimed to see these things. Just an observation.

He is not a believer and was attacking me with insults, accusations, cursing, control, manipulation. The Holy Spirit spoke through me. I did not know what to say. I felt I was being attacked by satan himself. After I spoke he went flying. I do not remember if I pushed him or not. Since I was not fighting with my dad, he came back at me and I put him in a headlock. Then we sat down and talked. I am militant with my prayer language at times. I do not know if anyone knows what I am talking about. I have had attacks from demonic things and the Holy Spirit speaks through me at it or against it.

I have seen quite a few signs and wonders, but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things will be added. A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, which Lord knows I have been wicked and a fornicator. I am not perfect, but I am washed in the blood of Jesus Christ. Who can bring an accusation against God's elect, it is God who justifies. As for those doing miracles, I really don't care. I will keep my eyes on the cross, and resist the devil until the time I am taken. I am not here to sit around eating corn chips watching some joker on tv. I need to be watchful, sober, vigilant, and on fire. Tongue talking, fire walking, son of the Most High. I am going through the refiners fire, so if you all are going to go as well, then do it, otherwise fall by the wayside. Be blessed.
