Hey all,
I've been sitting by my wife's side most of the day, in the emergency room.
She is supposed to be ok, the doctor almost let her come home today, but they kept her for observation.
We were driving in Portland when I asked her a question. Her reply wasn't even discernible, she was slurring her speech so bad. I immediately recognized this as a stroke-like symptom. I drove her to the nearest hospital. By the time we got there, she was almost completely recovered... She was speaking good, but her left arm was tingling, and she was a little dizzy. They immediately admitted her, did a cat-scan, blood work, ekg, etc, and decided that whatever had caused the lack of blood-flow in her head had passed almost as quickly as it had come. The doctor called it a "pre-stroke", and a "transient ischemic attack".
The doctor almost released her, but decided to keep her overnight for observation, and to make sure she gets the meds she needs during this long weekend. I went to Vespers when they were admitting her to her overnight room. My Priest gave me some Holy Water for her to drink, and since I didn't have my prayer book with me, I picked up a new one to pray over her tonight.
So, if you would, please say a small prayer for her, I would be grateful.
