Lets all just agree to disagree and respect our political differences :)

wow... you guys really don't understand political discussion at all. it's really not about hurting someone's feelings. it's about discussing our differences and seeing if someone else's opinion makes more sense or trying to prove our own opinions. i guess i'm going to have to discuss politics with the men.

Did you miss the other 4 or 5 raging political discussions already happening?

For someone espousing women's rights and feminine strength, that's a pretty rude thing to say. No one is going to change their mind at this stage in the game...male or female.

All old news -.-

Considering the election is so close at hand, and the advanced-polling is already in full swing, I really don't know why we have to do one of these threads all over again, it just causes pain and hurt when everyone ends up at each other's throats :(

This. No need to read other responses ~ I agree with this. Now...back to carving my pumpkin :p

You aren't discussing anything. Looking at the title of this thread proves that. We've had a lot of civilized (and some not so civilized) discussions on this board. When you jump on here with a thread so obviously created to start drama, what do you expect?

i'm not trying to change your mind. and i don't see it as being rude. i am trying to have an intelligent discussion and no one here wants to talk about the issues because they don't want anyone's feelings to get hurt. the men don't seem to have a problem with this, so i'm going to go discuss it with them.

again, not starting drama. stating my opinion. these are the reasons why I think you should not vote for john mccain. there would have been no problem with the same post in a board full of men. sometimes i don't understand how i can react so differently to things than other women. i guess i'm just not as easily offended.

So, it's only an intelligent discussion if people agree with you.

Go talk to the men about it. Us simple minded women folk have homes to clean and dinners to cook

again, i am not trying to change your mind or convince you to agree with me. it becomes a discussion when people present valid points against or for what you've already stated. which only one person has really done here. and i also have a home to clean and a husband to take care of. that does not mean that i cannot also discuss politics. and i would really like to enjoy discussion with people who will actually discuss the issues instead of talking about how horrible it is to discuss the issues.

Just for the record, that's what you consider to be "rights as a woman". There are some people (not taking sides here, just saying "everyone has an opinion") that don't believe it -is- a right to be able to abort a child.

As a result, your statement here makes no sense for someone with that belief.

Everyone has their own minds, can't we just let everyone vote as they wish to vote and quit the smearing?

 I agree with you entirely. I personally do not consider it *my* right as a woman to abort a human life. I consider it murder and a sin.

Apparently you don't understand sarcasm.

And if you'll see my avatar I support Obama, I however will not be part of a political discussion bashing McCain and Palin. No I don't agree with them but they are entitled to their beliefs as are the people that vote for them. This is not a discussion and I think it's hilarious that you're trying to pass it off as one.

ok - why not to vote Obama.

Jobs are going to be lost b/c of higher taxes
Obama is going to try to take away guns and ammo from law abiding people (ever hear of the 2nd Admendment)
Even his own VP nom. is saying that if Obama is elected that the USA will be under greater fear from attack.

Add to that the fact that McCain has much more leadership and political experience. He also has more experience in international relations.

i'm not really sure why you think taxes are going to be higher. obama plans to lower taxes on everyone not making over $250,000 per year. yes, he will be raising taxes on most businesses, but in my opinion, it has to be done. we are on the verge of another depression. i believe that without raising taxes, at least for a while, we will not be able to get out of the spot we've gotten ourselves into.

Sorry, but I just can't get behind someone who will punish certain types of doctors, lawyers, and other people who have worked their tails off to get where they are for earning over $250,000 per year with higher taxes (even if it would mean taxes on my little teacher's salary would be lower).

You truly believe that companies are just going to eat the added expense of the extra taxes? If you do, that's great.

I have ZERO faith in CEOs to take that hit personally rather than passing it down to the goods/services that they offer, laying off people, etc. Taxes are just an added expense and they will do whatever necessary to keep their profit margins up, and that does not include taking less in their personal paychecks every month.

Exactly. The more you tax the people and businesses who are providing goods and services, the more their goods and services will cost. Any decrease in taxes of people with lower incomes than theirs will be eaten up by extra expenses for those goods and services.

I'm an Obama supporter too...as anyone who has participated in the other political discussions here will plainly tell you. And if you're so gung-ho about women's right, then you might want to stop clinging to the stereotype that women can't talk about politics or vote intelligently.

You instigate an argument, alienate everyone, even those who might agree with you, and then insult us all by saying that women can't discuss politics intelligently.

Intelligent discussion doesn't happen in a thread with this much bias and an OP that begins in attack mode.

i did not say that women could not talk about politics and i never said that they couldn't vote intelligently. i am a woman... that would be stereotyping myself. what i said is that the people in this board do not want to talk about the issues that i've presented, so i will take the discussion elsewhere.
