Discovery Channel (i think) did a long documentary on this. After countless tests and re-tests by the experts, they still can't agree.

My personal opinion is that it is real -- but whether its real or not doesnt affect my faith (it aint important).

I think what's -ve abt this whole thing is that people have started to 'focus' on this shroud and 'worship' it.

Thanx for your replies guys...

Yes the evidence of the shroud stands pretty tough:
*Blood found on it looks real and not painting as suggested.
*The image of Christ on it was done on machines and suggests its a real man and that no medival painter could ever do such a job.
*Pollen found on it was that of flowers from ancient Jerusalem- flowers ONLY found there.
*This blanket was known to heal many people - ppl rubbed it against a wound and so forth apparently.
*Pontius Pilate coins are said to have been found on the image-supposedly his eyes were covered with them.
*Dirt on the shroud was lifted and finally they foudn fingerprints which looks like it was a real person.

Other than that, the cases against the shroud have yet to stand hard against these discoveries. But even if this shroud is proved to be fake, it still wont hurt my faith as you guys mentioned. But as usual, its been forgotten for some time now ;)

God bless

It's been a while since they've tried to prove it and from what i've seen, it's a fake made using medievil photo technology. The carbon dating has also been tested and it's only less than 1000 years old. Not even close to Jesus' time. Not to mention the image doesn't follow the geometry of someone being wrapped. Doesn't matter though. I don't base my faith on the shroud and you'll find it with most people whether it's real or fake.
