What are the Top Christian books of all - Time? Obviously the Bible is #1, but other than that?

I have included The Pilgrim's Progress, and Holy War by John Bunyan. What would you add to that?

List at the moment:

The Bible (KJV)
The Pilgrim's Progress (John Bunyan)
Holy War (John Bunyan)

I'll third "On the Incarnation of the Word." Och, and Athanasius was younger than I am now when he wrote it. Och, indeed.

I'm also a pretty big fan of "Ethics" by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. It's quite life-altering and I've found I read the Bible very differently, now.

My favorite book (which I've read many times) is "The Pilgrim's Regress" by C.S. Lewis. It's sort of a romantic mythical autobiography that he wrote fairly soon after his conversion to Christianity.

And, of course, (although I haven't read the whole thing, yet) who can forget "Summa Theologica" by Thomas Aquinas? This got me addicted to the scholastic style. His questions are so well-framed and honestly put; I find it difficult to imagine that his opponents could have made their own arguments stronger.

---

These are all pretty high on my list. Good books all. Also, especially if you're new to theology, I think the early Fathers are the best place to start. jckstraw72 mentioned Justin Martyr, but I'd also say the Epistle of Polycarp and the Epistles of Ignatius of Antioch. Polycarp and Ignatius are pretty short reads and very well worth it.

Pilgrim's Progress was John Bunyan many centuries ago, not CS Lewis.

Yes, "The Pilgrim's Progress," was a book by John Bunyan. But later there was another book called, "The Pilgrim's Regress," written by C.S. Lewis. The names are similar by intention.
