Ryan looked down the street and saw Cathy.
"Excuse me." he said. Ryan walked up to Cathy.
"Cathy, I am terribly sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you. I was just under stress." Ryan said.
"It's okay. I can see why you were upset. Ryan, would you do me a favor, and watch our house for a few weeks? I don't want Lusha to feel unsafe, but I don't want her surrounded, you know?"
"Yeah. I'll watch your house tonight from the church tower. Should I throw a rock in your window if I see something?"
"Do whatever you think necessary."
"I think it's necessary for me to walk you home." Ryan said, offering her his arm. Cathy then noticed Alex and Fern.
"Oh, I'm sorry for running into you earlier." Cathy said, looing at Fern. Fern smiled, and said, "It's alright." Cathy nodded her thanks, took Ryans arm and he walked her home.
When they got there, Cathy asked, "So, what were you going to ask me?"
Ryan looked at her, his bright turquoise eyes gleaming.
"Well," he said running his hand through his dark-blonde hair. "It's more of a statement." Cathy cocked her head, waiting for Ryan to finish. Ryan smiled, leaned in close to her face, and whispered, "I love you Cathy."
With that, he gently brushed his lips against hers, in a qyuick, but meanigful kiss. He pulled back quickly, slightly embarassed. Cathy smiled, and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I love you too." she whispered before, walking into the house.
Ryan smiled, and walked across the street, to the church. There, he climbed into the church tower, and stayed there the whole night.
Cathy sighed, smiled and ran upstairs. Though her heart was still filled with sadness over the death of her parents, a new joy had sparked in her heart. She knew Ryan would always be there for her. She walked into Lusha's room. She was asleep. Cathy sat on Lusha's bed. She looks exsactly like mom. she thought. Lusha stirred, and sat up.
"Lusha, go back to sleep."
"I can't. I know I'm only a year younger than you Cathy, but I feel like a six year old. I have undecided feelings, that are keeping me awake."
"We all have undecided feelings sometimes. But, some of those feelings can be used to our advantage, and others can be tourture. The only thing we can do, is ask God to help us with those feelings, and not put them in the way of His work."
Lusha smiled.
"Cathy, even though mom and dad are gone, I'm glad to have you here with me." Lusha said. Cathy smiled, her bottom lip quivering.
"I'm glad to have you too." Cathy said, a tear rolling the length of her cheek. Lusha wrapped her arms around her older sister, and they gave each other a comforting hug.
