  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Is this OCD?

Thanks for the replies, and help.... I've never experienced such stress before. Over the last few days I've been doing whatever I can to keep my mental health intact. I think I just need to learn better ways to deal with tough situations other than mulling over decisions for hours until I...

    Is this OCD?

At this point in my life I really just feel like I have no direction...... My indecisiveness was at its apex today when I was at work, and someone urged me to let management know that I was interested in a management position that had opened up. I did so, but then shortly thereafter let the...

    Is this OCD?

I've had OCD all my life, and after recently getting over a lot of the worst of my OCD rituals and thoughts, I think something new has started to occur. It's kind've an old habit but it's gotten bad recently. Sometimes it makes me think I'm stupid, but what happens is when it comes to very...

Christian Mythology vs. Greek, Roman, Norse, etc. Mythology

For the most part, people were practicing polytheism, especially in ancient times. Monotheism is just a result of people becoming more educated and aware of the world around them. That's how Christianity evolved -- it's nothing more than Hellenized Judaism that resulted form the exposure of...

    What language did Jesus speak?

I think he definitely spoke Aramaic. I think that many Jews in that time read and spoke Hebrew, since so many texts were probably written in those languages, but their main language was probably Aramaic. There is no guarantee that, just because there were a few Greek speaking Gentiles around...

Christian Mythology vs. Greek, Roman, Norse, etc. Mythology

I think the polytheistic religions you mentioned are examples of archaic religions, the foundations of which rested more firmly on superstition and ignorance, than do the monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It's no surprise, then, that along with mankind being more...

    being bullied at work

I've worked on third shift at Wal-Mart for six years, and I can relate. Not relate exactly -- since our circumstances are so different -- but relate nonetheless. I've had knives pulled on me "jokingly", where someone jokingly threatened me and asked me what I was going to do about it. If...

Chariot Wheels Found On The Bottom Of The Red Sea - The Exodus REALLY HAPPENED

Ron Wyatt found those wheels? Wow, didn't he also find the Ark of the Covenant (directly beneath the site of Jesus' crucifixion)? That guy makes some far fetched claims. A wheel on an axel in the water doesn't prove much. Incidentally, it looks like it sunk there, since it's standing on end...

How I lost my Faith; through study of Early Christian History...

It's amazing how many people are black and white about this. Either everything in the Bible is true, or none of it is and what might be true is very questionable. Have you ever considered that some of the events in the Bible did happen, but not exactly as they were described? Or that perhaps...

    Ocd

Greetings, I just joined myself. I also have OCD but it has been much worse in the past. I still suffer from checking ocassionally, but it has been much worse before. I also suffer from nagging self doubts of what I'm capable, and especially at college when I'm doing school work I wonder if...

Christianity A Copy of Egyptian Theology?

I don't think any of that's true. Besides, why should Christianity and Judaism be influenced by Egyptian theology? If Noah came from another source, it was from common Mesopotamian myths that everyone believed in in Mesopotamia, when the Hebrews settled there. Everyone regarded them to be true...

    My Formal Hello Adress

Greetings. I'm an atheist, as well, and I'm new here. Hope to see you on the forums.

    Greetings. I'm new here.

Do you mean Christmas? If so, I see no reason not to celebrate it. Much of society is based around values not our own, we cannot simply cast away all those we don't agree with simply for the sake of ideological consistency.

    Greetings. I'm new here.

Thank you for all the info. I did have one question though that I didn't see in the FAQ. I tried to reply to a thread in either the apologetics or Bible History forum, but it told me I needed 100 posts to post there. I was wondering where I can post to build up my post count, and what...

    Greetings. I'm new here.

This would be my first post. My name's Mike, and I'm from Kalamazoo, Michigan. I'm an atheist, but I like posting on Christian forums because it gives me someone to debate with and I tend to not agree with most atheists on atheist message boards. They're very into philosophy, and I'm not, and...
