Christian Music that makes you want to Tear your Ears off

I find a lot of contemporary Praise & Worship to be severely lacking in both the Good Music Department and the Good Theology Department.

    Favorite Pagan Metal?

How long did this "phase" last, anyway? Just curious. In addition to the aforementioned bands, I have to include Turisas, Korpiklaani, and Glittertind. My youngest brother and I can agree on all three of those bands. Just plain fun to listen to!

What songs bring tears to your eyes?

Amen to that! In the realm of the classics, I have to go with Flos Campi by Ralph Vaughan Williams. It has a hold on me that few pieces manage to achieve. I could listen to it over and over and over (and have done so once or twice)... One song from the rock-oriented side of things that has...

    Great music from Soundtrack

Braveheart - James Horner Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Tan Dun Svidd Neger - Ulver That last one is by a rock band, but composed in an orchestral style. But yeah, it's funny how some of the greatest music was written for movies. I never saw Road to Perdition. Good stuff!

    wedding music: suggestions?

I'm getting married at the end of October (yay!). My little lady and I have decided that we'd rather stay away from tradition and do things our way. So, instead of Mendolssohn's "Wedding March" (barf) or Pachelbel's "Canon In D" (double barf), we would appreciate your suggestions for an...

    Mosh pits: what gives?

Heh, that's definitely a first. I've heard a lot worse: Tim Robbins, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lars Ulrich... even Shawn from Boy Meets World. I'll take it as a compliment!

    Post rock

This is a genre I've always loved but never dove head-first into. For years I've been listening to bands like Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Ulver, Kayo Dot, etc. More recently I've discovered Oceansize, This Will Destroy You, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Russian Circles (yes, they're very good), and...

I’m boudhist, christian, muslim and jewish too

This sounds like a childish attempt to ruffle someone's feathers. Anyway, it is impossible to be Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, and Jewish all at the same time. If your music is as thoughtless and illogical as your lyrics, then it's probably not a very good song.

Is "secular" music ok to listen to?

As others have already made great points in defense of secular music, I'll only add one thing: I think that if God wanted us to listen to music that had spiritual themes exclusively, he would have made Christian music a lot better.

    Mosh pits: what gives?

Haha! I definitely wouldn't be dancing to Goatwhore either (nor Soilent Green, Ben's other band whom are AB. SO. LUTE. LY. Killer). To be honest, I think dancing is even dumber than moshing, but again - I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade here.

    Mosh pits: what gives?

I am a 26-year old metalhead who has been listening to metal ever since 1999 when I got struck by the Black Sabbath/Metallica bug. Since then I have developed an appreciation for all things hard and heavy, from death to black, from power to thrash, from doom to drone, from folk to infinity and...

    Heavy Metal?

It is absolutely okay for a believer to listen to metal. One thing that I'm sure you've discovered in your search for non-Satanic music is that there are plenty of artists out there that do not write as if sinfulness and depravity were the only things that they've ever known. A large number of...

How big is yours?! (small reps)

Dang, I hate getting old. As a die-hard record collector, I refuse to go digital. I stopped counting after 300 or so, but I probably have around 500-600 cds, and maybe 100+ vinyl. I'm going to cry when my kids ask me what cds are.

    The Metal Bible

... can be found below. I think this is a great edition of the Bible for metalheads who love Jesus, and for those who don't know Him. It includes contributions from metal converts such as Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden and Dave Mustaine from Megadeth, as well as established Christian Metal...

Anyone here write their own music?

I've been playing music for nearly 18 years now, but only in the past year or so have I been putting together complete songs. I write Alt/Texas Country songs for a band that I lead here in Blue Ridge, and then when I'm sick of that I write Prog/Power Metal for myself. I love it all though!
