What is the Catholic view of the Antichrist and the End Times?

My thanks to everyone who responded. After reading five books on the subject, I realized just how divergent the interpretations are in Revelation from a Catholic perspective. The most coherent interpretation I read is a partial preterist perspective that places much of Revelation in the past (AD...

What is the Catholic view of the Antichrist and the End Times?

Interesting. Just found this on freebiblestudyguides.org: The False Prophet is most often associated with the Antichrist. But it is the Beast who will lead the armies of the earth to make war against Christ (Revelation 19:19). Since both men will be enemies of Christ—both will demand to be...

What is the Catholic view of the Antichrist and the End Times?

I've read different interpretations online. Sometimes the Antichrist is the first beast of Revelation and, according to others, he is the second beast (the False Prophet). Is that open to interpretation in Catholicism? Thanks Norm

What is the Catholic view of the Antichrist and the End Times?

I bought a study guide recently to help me understand Revelation, but it turns out it only gives the Futurist interpretation, which is only one of four many points of view (Futurist, Preterist (partial or full), Idealist, and Historicist). Can anyone tell me what the Catholic interpretation is...

    Is Pope Francis the Antipope?

I've seen in several threads in this forum people refer to Pope Francis as the Antipope, so I thought I would create this thread. How can he be the Antipope if he was elected by the cardinals who prayed to God for guidance? That would mean that the leaders of the Catholic Church were all...

Is the crucifix a form of idolatry?

I tend to think of it as Christ's power flowing to me through the crucifix. I don't think of the crucifix as the source of that power, though. Different?

Is the crucifix a form of idolatry?

I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this, but seeing (and touching!) a crucifix brings me closer to God. Isn't that idolatry?

How do I respond to critics who say that God commits/advocates atrocities in the Bible?

I'm wondering how to respond to people who question the reality of the Christian God because of atrocities God commits or advocates in the Bible. I have no good answer and wonder myself if these elements of the Bible are simply made up by victors in battle to justify their atrocities. Thanks!

    Which study Bible?

Thank you, 1watchman. I found the Liberty University KJV Study Bible 2nd Ed. (ebook). It's loaded with hyperlinks to additional information about the people, geography, verses, and Jesus's words appear in red.

    Which study Bible?

Hi, I'm a huge fan of the KJV Bible and am looking for help understanding it better than I can on my own. For example, I'd like to know how scholars interpret the verses, since the content is from a society, culture, and language 2000+ years old. I've been reading reviews of various study...
