  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"There is no salvation outside of the Church"

I'm unsure of your point... yes, Acts 16 lays out the simplicity of the Gospel and the simplicity of salvation, that is precisely my concern when Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christians introduce membership in their Church as a necessity (or, at least, the safest measure) for salvation, when I...

"There is no salvation outside of the Church"

Thank you for your response! I do understand now how anathemas function more as a formal ecclesiastical curse than some declaration of damnation. But, if the Roman Church believes that the absence of unity with the Church means the absence of salvation (in most cases), then how would an...

"There is no salvation outside of the Church"

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response!! This is different than what I am used to, as I have experienced some intolerance from Catholics especially in the past... I'm intrigued and relieved to hear that this ecclesial exclusivity is not the only view! I'm interested in learning more...

"There is no salvation outside of the Church"

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a beautiful day!! I also hope that maybe I could get some help with some concerns I have. I have recently been concerned about the claims by both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches that there is no salvation outside of their Church. Both...

Please help me figure this out!

Hello, nice to meet you as well! I apologize for my late response. I was out of the country. I must also be honest, I haven't been reading this thread since the last time I posted. I love so many Classical Calvinists, and, after all, this view does not compromise or obscure the Gospel, so...

Saved by grace: a gift too precious to lose.

No one is saying that we wouldn't choose to follow God's commandments after being justified! How can we, having turned from the sin that led us down the path to destruction, return to that filth willingly? Isn't that the whole thrust of Romans 6? Yes, the Spirit empowers us to do His will and...

Saved by grace: a gift too precious to lose.

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:14-15 “Suppose someone should be caught in the act of adultery and the foulest crimes and then be thrown into prison...

    Prayer for my baptism!

Hello everyone!! I am going to college in a few months. I hope to join a new church quickly and be baptized there!! I was baptized as a child at the age of 9. However, I did not live for God, rather, I still lived for myself primarily and also spread false doctrine everywhere. I was saved from...

    K-pop

Hello everyone!! ^_^ I'm currently wondering if there are any K-pop groups that make songs/dances that I could listen to/dance to in good conscience. Before I followed Christ, I loved K-pop very, very much. I did spend an inordinate amount of time watching K-pop related content back then, but...

Please help me figure this out!

Hey everyone, I wish everyone who keeps up with this thread a happy day or night haha :)) Thank you all for sticking with me and helping me with these issues. I love you all very much! Today, I was again confronted with some issues with Calvinism, so I went back to this topic to research and...

Please help me figure this out!

How beautiful! How great and compassionate is the Lord, desiring to gather all people to Himself, desiring that they would not resist as they do. Thank you so much for these quotes from the early church fathers, the ones most acquainted with the apostles' teaching, speaking on this issue. Many...

Please help me figure this out!

I don't defend the Arminian view. I affirm Eternal Security! Believers have passed from death into life (John 5) and are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1). But your first premise is incorrect. Arminians do not affirm Total Depravity. They affirm Partial Depravity. Thus, your...
