  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Advice from recovered or recovering bulimics?

I would encourage you to pray that the Lord reveals Himself to your daughter, because as you know, she needs to come to an understanding on her own. When she turns to God, He can remove the veil over her eyes and replace any lies she's believing with His perfect truth (second Corinthians...

    Setting captives free

The course has a lesson that you submit each day, which takes about a half-hour to finish. Each lesson covers a different topic, and there are questions interspursed throughout the lesson that you answer. Everyday includes accountability questions at the bottom about food intake and exercising...

    Setting captives free

Have any of you heard of the free 60-day online course for eating disorders? My friend just told me about it, and I'm only on the fourth day, but it has been amazing. The course is very bible-based, and you get to answer questions and email back and forth with a mentor. I'd recommend it to any...

ed is devastating my life (may trigger)

My heart just goes out to you because I"m also twenty-one and I can relate to your feelings. The only advice that I have is to cry out to the Lord, He is the only way that I got past my eating disorder, and He promises to never turn away from those who seek Him. Maybe you could read through some...

    motivation

What motiviated me to recover was realizing that what I was doing WAS negatively affecting me--and not only me, but also everyone around me, especially those close friends. Plus it made it easier for others to justify their disordered eating, and i could have been a trigger to other people who...

did anybody watch this t.v. show?

I completely agree with Dee--those kind of shows are so appealing to us, but not for the right reason! We don't need to compare ourselves to the world. We are HIS children, and that is enough.

    Telling someone?

Have you thought about writing a letter? Even if you decide to talk to the teachers in person instead, it's probably a good idea to collect your thoughts, and it's a great first step. But what's the worst that could happen if you talked to your parents about it?

    Telling someone?

It sounds like you already know you need to tell someone. I had very similar thoughts as you about two years ago and I decided to talk to a woman from my church since she had gone through similar issues. My advice to you would be find a time when you could be alone with whoever you're going to...

    The Scale..

It sounds like you're definitely on the right track, Jenafer. I would be careful not to weigh myself not too often, once a week at the most. I personally have found that I need to avoid scales altogether because the numbers are very triggering for me. Just try to take it one meal at a time. :-)

    Recovery Thread

Hi, I'm jjd and I wanted to let you know I'll be around and checking in here. I struggled with anorexia/overexercising throughout middle and high school, and I've been recovering for the past two years. I never went to a treatment center or anything, just through the Lord and with the support of...

    sister becoming obsessed with weight

Yesterday my sister bought a treadmill and I helped her pick it up. She wanted to set it up in the living room which is right outside my bedroom. I told myself I wasn't going to overdo running again but I've been on it for a couple of hours since last night already. It's just really tempting and...

    need to distance myself?

My best friend is getting married in a couple of months. The guy she's marrying is also one of my closer friends, and a few years ago we actually dated for a brief time. I am just unsure as to how much I should hang out with them...obviously they need space but is it weird for me to still do...

Thank you all so much for your responses. RedTulipMoon, numbers aren't allowed on the forum to prevent sharing weights, number of cals, etc., but they also don't show up when we're talking about other stuff. I think I know what B vitamin you mean though. I actualy was able to take a nutrition...
