• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Have any of you heard of the free 60-day online course for eating disorders? My friend just told me about it, and I'm only on the fourth day, but it has been amazing. The course is very bible-based, and you get to answer questions and email back and forth with a mentor. I'd recommend it to any one of you--the website can be found if you google "Setting Captives Free", then go to online courses and choose the course "In His Image".

If you do it, let me know how it goes!

The course has a lesson that you submit each day, which takes about a half-hour to finish. Each lesson covers a different topic, and there are questions interspursed throughout the lesson that you answer. Everyday includes accountability questions at the bottom about food intake and exercising. Each person taking the course gets assigned a mentor who reads the answers to all your questions and checks up on you at least a few times per week. I am learning a lot from the course and being blessed my meditating on all the scriptures included in the lessons. Why I really like it is because it does not focus so much on what or what not to eat, but the focus is on feasting on Jesus' word and how only that truly satisfies. I hope this helps. :)

I have done one of their courses, not for ED, but they are all similar, I think.
They are very good, especially if you develop a good relationship with the mentor.
As you say, the great thing is that they get the focus off the 'problem' and onto Jesus.

Praying that it helps you , sweetie
