    Good morning, and a question

Thank you all for the welcome! I'm currently living in MS right now, although I am a native Texan. The heat and humidity of central/south Texas can be brutal. I would say that I was glad to be away from it, but MS is actually worse than Tx in that regard.

    Good morning, and a question

Hello all. I hope this finds you well. I have a question. Years ago, I found a podcast, and I believe it was something along the line of "Rain in/on the Desert". I can't remember where it was hosted, but I remember that, even though I was a practicing protestant, I could agree with and felt...

Church of God Vs Baptist: What's the Difference in Their Beliefs?

Note: I said it's a movement. The congregation as a whole hasn't succumbed to this.

Church of God Vs Baptist: What's the Difference in Their Beliefs?

My first "real" church experience was in the CoG (Cleveland). I was subsequently baptized there and stayed for many years. Like the Baptists, there's some leeway in their teaching, but for the most part a baptist would feel comfortable listening to a CoG sermon, I believe. That said, there is a...

A concern I have with evangelical churches

Protestant/Evangelical/Fundamentalist churches place a heavy emphasis on the belief that the bible is inerrant and infallible. Everything written in them have to be correct. Sometimes that's more of a sticking point than the theology contained within the bible.

I Feel Nothing at Church and I'm Sick of It

Living in the deep south, my main options are Baptist, UMC, and a smattering of pentecostal and Catholic churches. Besides, my wife grew up methodist and baptist, and she has no interest in becoming members of an apostolic tradition church, though I wouldn't mind. Thanks for the encouraging...

I Feel Nothing at Church and I'm Sick of It

I feel much the same in my church, and that's why I'm coming out of the evangelistic church. I do like the music, and the I have many friends there, but it is lacking the reverence I'm looking for, the deeper bond with Jesus, the lack of, sometimes disdain for, church history and traditions. I'm...

Next question - Leavened vs Unleavened

Thank you. I have never delved deeply into the issue, as I've taken whatever happened to be in the plate when we do have it. I guess, after reflecting on it recently, I view it in the context of Jesus saying this is my body, and earlier in scripture, He likened yeast to sin. Since He was...

Next question - Leavened vs Unleavened

I know that there is a significant history regarding the different traditions of the east v. west in regards to the host. What I was wondering (and I hope this won't cause debate or ill will) is what each traditions reasoning/theology behind whether to use leavened or unleavened bread. Thanks!

Question: What does Liturgical Abuse mean?

Thank you. I wasn't sure, and the word abuse has a negative connotation to.

Question: What does Liturgical Abuse mean?

I see this phrase in different threads. I come from, and coming out of, an evangelical background, and liturgy was never discussed. Thanks, Marc

    Traditional Theology Census

I don't post a whole lot anymore, but I do like to lurk and learn. I started my Christian life in a Church of God (Cleveland, TN), and then moved on to the Baptist tradition. I'm still currently a member of a good ol' SBC church, but I am exploring other Christian traditions. As I mentioned...

    Theosis

Pardon me for stepping into this thread, but from what I've read above, theosis seems to be similar to the concept of sanctification, at least in protestant churches (I honestly don't know how EO/OO describe it). Is that the case?

Will be visiting a UMC church soon

Thanks, CR. I think I understand the reasoning behind infant baptism, and it's by no means a "dealbreaker" for me. RiA, this church has two services; one more traditional and one more contemporary. Unfortunately, the traditional service is the early service, and I have a hard time getting...
