  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Questions about iconography...

Good thread, thanks. I've got a question of my own. What is the "copyright" for icons? I realize that most living iconographers are professional and wouldn't want their icons copied or sold without their permission. But every now and then I find lovely images of icons that I know have been in...

Glad to see people still here!

Ha, yeah, now that you mention it! I wonder how long ago they changed it.

Glad to see people still here!

Hi all! I joined the forums in 2002. I was active on them for the next 4 years or so, but eventually "fell away" so to speak (but I did always appreciate the happy birthday emails from Erwin!). This place, especially the crevo and bibliology forums, significantly contributed to my theological...

    Jesus fish and Darwin fish

In a college town (where else?), I saw a Jesus fish and a Darwin fish nose to nose, as though they were kissing. Thought that was an interesting way of starting a conversation with folks of many different stripes.

for TE's historicity of OT people

I think that Adam is the only purely mythological/legendary character. Even though Noah's story is mythological, I tend to believe there was some person in Hebrew pre-history with that name, to whom the story of the Flood became attached. Nevertheless, I voted non-historical for both Adam and...

    The Big Bang and Relativity

I have a friend who pointed me to this article http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/arti...1309990017&cid It's the study that said that the universe inflated in less than a trillionth of a second. My friend then demands to know how all that mass could have travelled faster than light. My...

The Full Spectrum of Christian Belief on Origins - where are you?

If your problem with the "ladder" analogy is that it suggests our ancestors' conscious decision to scale through biological mutations to reach the point we are at, I agree. If you took issue with an intimation that evolution is teleological, there is no argument there either. But my hunch is...

    Objections to Theistic Evolution

The biggest problem for them seems to be with Jesus' comment, "from the beginning He made them male and female". Also, for those of us who don't see a literal first man Adam, they are puzzled as to what we should do with Paul's comments about sin entering the world through "one man". For those...
