  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Anglicans?

Wow, I started this thread about eight months ago and it's alive again... and I've since converted to Catholicism, so my original post isn't even relevant any more. But, hello!

    Name change

Yep. Well, I've been confirmed RC anyway. I didn't have to do RCIA, just a series of chats with the priest.

    Name change

Hello, Now that I'm officially Roman Catholic, the name SaepiusOfficio has started to seem somewhat, er, awkward, so I've decided to change it. I've chosen DeoJuvante, in keeping with the whole Latin phrase theme. Anyway, I just thought I'd let you guys know, seeing as this is just about the...

    Finding Movable Dates

I threw together an excel spreadsheet to give you an idea of how it's done. Once you know that date of Easter, all you have to do is add or subtract a fixed number of days. Some of the feasts that you listed are fixed feasts, however. For example, Advent Sunday is always the Sunday closest to 30...

    Goodbye

 I don't understand what this means.

    Goodbye

Meh. In many ways, I'm a pragmatist. Will I be in a position to receive the sacraments from an Anglican priest in future? Unlikely. Does that mean that I should take it upon myself to judge who is or is not in valid Orders? I don't think so. ETA: Does it matter in the scheme of things? If it...

    Goodbye

What I mean is: suppose the Pope were to declare ex cathedra that Jesus was not divine. At some point before making the formal declaration, he would have had to believe that that were true. By believing that (in full knowledge, yada yada, but we can assume all that, he is Pope after all), he...

    Goodbye

I tend to think that that particular dogma is practically meaningless. I accept the two dogmas promulgated under papal infallibility, but I'm not going to lose sleep over whether or not papal infallibility itself is true.

    Goodbye

Hehe, that could be awkward. I intend to change it as soon as I can think of a new one. It's not as though I go around declaiming my doubts about certain doctrines or as though I wear pro-choice badges to Mass. If they were to exclude everyone who privately disagreed with certain doctrines of...

    Goodbye

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive. Well, there's lots of reasons and its kinda hard to explain. It's something that has happened over a long period of time, really, but I do feel that this is where the Holy Spirit is leading me and I think that I will end up being a better...

    Goodbye

Firstly, sorry I haven't posted here for so long. Secondly, I probably won't be posting here too often in the future because I am now in the process of converting to Catholicism. I won't change my faith icon until I've finally been received into the Catholic Church but it's pretty much just a...

    Just wondering?

Sorry, it's just than this forum doesn't represent the apostolic denomination. I don't even know what it is. This forum is for those churches (Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox) who believe in tactile apostolic succession. So we don't believe that we are apostles. Rather, all of our bishops...
