Name change

Hello,

Now that I'm officially Roman Catholic, the name SaepiusOfficio has started to seem somewhat, er, awkward, so I've decided to change it. I've chosen DeoJuvante, in keeping with the whole Latin phrase theme. Anyway, I just thought I'd let you guys know, seeing as this is just about the only place on CF that I used to post regularly. I hope you're all well.

Thanks for letting us know! When you say you are 'officially' Roman Catholic, does that mean you have completed the RCIA and been confirmed RC?

Yep. Well, I've been confirmed RC anyway. I didn't have to do RCIA, just a series of chats with the priest.

Without adding to the "you shoulda chosen this encyclical" meme, let me note that TTBOMK it's "Unam Sanctam" --both being adjectives in the accusative feminine singular, I believe modifying "Ecclesiam."

Glen has a friend who he refers to as 'the Pontificator'.

I used to think he was referring to the Pope!

The Pontificator I am familiar with is Father Alvin Kimmel, a former Episcopalian priest who, while he was still an Episcopalian priest, started blogging. The purpose of the blog, entitled "Pontifications", was for him to discern whether he wanted to become Eastern Orthodox or Roman Catholic, since he had begun to be convinced that Anglicanism was not correct in all of it's claims and he was dissatisfied with the direction of his church. He posted a lot of very deep theological musings and evaluations of the meaning and intent of the church fathers' writings and the liturgy (and liturgical calendar), as well as spiritual musings, commentary on events in the Anglican Communion, Eastern Orthodox Church, and Roman Catholic Church, and so on and so forth.

Eventually, he converted to Roman Catholicism. His blog continued for a while thereafter, but was eventually discontinued and now only exists in archived form. I think his big goodbye was sometime this past summer. Anyhow, his blog got really famous and popular in Internet theological circles for a while, so it's somewhat well known amongst certain longtime Internet posters and readers (Though I am sure the general population wouldn't have any idea who he is. ).

Actually I can't really see myself voting for ANYONE running today.

Except for Possibly Fred Thompson, and I'm not Super happy about that.
