  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Deepak Chopra

What do you guys think about Deepak Chopra and his books? He seems to mix a lot of philosophies together, but I don't know how I feel about him. I just read "Seven Spiritual Laws of Success," and while a lot of it makes sense, some of it was just way out there.

    Morning or Night?

When is the best time for you to write? For me, it's right after my last cup of coffee in the morning. I have so much creative juice flowing then. That, and some urine flowing too. :D

How many have actually read the Bible?

I remember thinking reading the Bible all the way was such an impossible task. It really isn't.

Ever make a game of it?

I know we have the ability to slightly focus on so many things at once that we don't get anything done. Well, after reading Dr. Daniel Amen's book on ADD, I decided to time myself while cleaning. I set the timer for 20 minutes to clean the living room, and I ended up cleaning the dining room...

    The bottom:(

That's exactly my way of thinking when I get real low. It must be some law of nature, that when life is that low, you have nowhere to go but up! Dan Miller (good author) states: I think we need to change our definition of “failure.” It seldom means the end of hope – rather...

How Many Times Has This Happened

Have you ever thought of a great story idea, and then see it on the shelves like 6 months later because someone else thought of it too, they just took the necessary steps?

    low:(

The other day I had two glasses of wine, and the next day I was so low a friend felt he had to intervene. Whenever I have alcohol, as much as that seems to help the depression short term, I always feel even worse the next day. I'm sure this doesn't help, but I do understand the good days and...

How Many Books Can You Read in a Week?

I had to take this past Wed. off and finished one book and read two more. Now I'm almost done with another book I started yesterday. This is out of the ordinary for me, but how many books could you read in a week, whether you're home all day or go to work?

Is sex the most common sin?

I would say pride is the most common of sins. Yes, we all have sexual desires, but it's when pride tells us we know better that we give into temptations. Adam and Eve's first sin was pridefully thinking they knew and could be better than God Himself.

    Are Anti-depressants helpful?

I read that medicine only helps 80% of people, so there are some "lucky" ones in that 20%. Personally I've been on Prozac for a year and I like it; one psychiatrist told me Prozac's the gold standard of antidepressants. However, I still have my low periods like one I had last week that got...

Is listening to music difficult for some?

I have trouble listening to music when low. Anything considered happy or beautiful, even a clear sunny day, just seems to make the depression worse. So I hear ya on that.
