Good point. But the ancient for "Tammuz" does have a "T" in Phoenecian.

    What is Needed for Revival!

The church has a land? This is not a promise to us. We don't live in the church of Acts. In fact, the church of Acts is completely different than the church we're in. Not only do people not drop dead, we don't heal with our shadows, raise the dead, prophesy, go to the Jew first, promise the...

    Baptist icon...

I think with the handle of "menno" you should be safe. :)

    Crossing yourself

For the last reason... The bigger question is why do these others do it? I don't know of any Methodists that do this, but the others didn't move very far from Rome when they left. Since Baptists are not Protestants, we shouldn't take leftovers and force them on Christians.

the fallacy of eternal torment and related issues

So what do those in prison do? What do we say to the man on his deathbed who cannot do anything? The message in Matthew 25 is clearly not the message we preach. Can I come to your church and preach that if we perform a certain list of kidnesses that we will inherit the kingdom of God? Again...

the fallacy of eternal torment and related issues

Just another note: "the nations" are the gentiles. This is a judgment of the gentile "nations" and their treatment of Israel, hence the emphasis on "Works" and on Jesus' "brethren". This is a reference to the judgment of Joel 3: For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall...

    Is adult baptism required

I was baptized as an infant in the RCC. When I was saved I was baptized as an adult in the Assemblies of God. I now work at a Baptist college and worship at a Baptist local church... if I wanted to officially join, my adult baptism would be accepted. Oddly enough, I don't believe in baptism...

the fallacy of eternal torment and related issues

v.34 This is for those for whom the kingdom was prepared FROM the foundation of the world. The present church was chosen BEFORE the foundation of the world. vs. 35-39 ALL WORKS. There is no faith, no cross, no blood, no grace, no Jesus. What do the imprisoned do in this system? Visit...

the fallacy of eternal torment and related issues

Yeah, I know... all earthly metaphors fall apart upon closer inspection. The Third Reich was the closest earthly comparison I could find to try and make the literary point. In a way, however, the THIRD Reich cannot rise, it must hence be the FOURTH Reich. The point was simply the literary use...

    Back to the Garden...

The only comment I would make is concerning the study of the Law by Adam. Paul clearly teaches that from Adam until Moses there was no "Law" (as such). He did have one "law"concerning the tree, but that cannot scripturally be called a "law." Romans 5 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into...

    Crossing yourself

From catholic.org One of the main teachings of the early Church Fathers is that the sign of the cross is a declaration of defense against the devil. When you sign yourself, you are declaring to the devil, "Hands off. I belong to Christ; he is my protection." It's both an offensive and...

the fallacy of eternal torment and related issues

The context of Matthew 25 is not individual salvation (there is no cross, no blood, no faith, no grace, no Jesus there!). It is the judgment of gentile nations entering into the millenium kingdom. They are judged according to their works in light of their treatment of Jews ("the least of My...

the fallacy of eternal torment and related issues

Thanks, Daneel. Good stuff in your posts. Consider the following verses in regard to Revelation 14 and "for ever and ever": The streams of Edom shall be turned into pitch, and her soil into brimstone; her land shall become burning pitch. Night and day it shall not be quenched...

    Crossing yourself

I strongly DISCOURAGE it. It has no place in scripture and is a form of superstition. It is a man-made ritual. Why do you pray for the dead? How would crossing yourself help the dead even if you believed it wasn't too late? Do you really believe that the blood of Christ is insufficient...
